🚨C’est la Journée mondiale du trauma

Aujourd'hui, nous soulignons le travail des membres de l’équipe de traumatologie de l’HGM.

Le 15 octobre, l’équipe a réalisé l’une des nombreuses simulations cliniques réalistes qu’elle organise chaque année. Cet exercice mettait en scène un patient de 52 ans souffrant d’un traumatisme contondant au visage et d’une détresse respiratoire sévère.

Autour du patient se trouvaient, entre autres, une infirmière, une inhalothérapeute, un résident senior en traumatologie et deux résidents en chirurgie, qui prodiguaient des soins selon leur spécialité. Le chef trauma, véritable chef d’orchestre, coordonnait toutes les interventions jusqu’à ce que le patient soit conduit au bloc opératoire.

Le Dr Jeremy Grushka, chirurgien d’expérience en trauma et observateur externe lors de la simulation, confirme : « En situation d’urgence, nous fonctionnons en équipe et chacun connaît son rôle — c’est ce qui améliore les chances de survie de nos patients. »

🚨It's World Trauma Day

Today, we highlight the work of the trauma team at the MGH.

On October 15, the team hosted one of several realistic clinical simulations held each year. This exercise involved a 52-year-old patient with blunt facial trauma and severe respiratory distress.

Around the patient was, among others, a nurse, a respiratory therapist, a senior trauma resident and two surgical residents to provide care within their respective specialties. The trauma team leader acts as a conductor, coordinating all interventions until the patient is taken to the operating room.

Dr. Jeremy Grushka, an experienced trauma surgeon and external observer for the simulation, agrees: “In an emergency, we function as a team and everyone knows their role — that’s what improves our patients’ chances of survival.”
