@jannone Yeah, it turns out they actually recorded a guitar slide.
If I wanted to get closer, I could record a real guitar,
or use more legato pitch bends and add some fret noise on top.
As a solo developer, finding the right audio source is the hardest part when adding sounds.
Plenty of jump sounds out there, but I couldn’t find one that felt Mario-like.
So I tried making Mario’s jump sound myself.

@ConnorTheTwo I noticed that matching the characteristics of a sound
can make almost anything sound similar.
Thanks! I wasn’t totally sure,
but I think I’ll keep using this sound.
@BigKnacka Thank you so much!
Once the fan game is finished, I’m planning to share a more detailed video about the development process.
Good luck with your game dev journey as well! 🙌
@manvithamadem I've used Max, a visual scripting tool, once to make a game for a class assignment in college. But it’s mainly designed for sound interaction.
@EndlessGait Just changing the character while keeping the same systems isn’t something I want to do, and properly creating a new character and world would require starting from concept art. That’s well beyond the scope of this project. 😅
@courfedra Thanks!
I built the movement logic as I implemented each action.
Tweaking values and adding effects happened bit by bit over time, so I’m not really sure how long it took.
