Claude Code read 4,182 notes in an Obsidian vault and found a business the owner had been circling for 3 years without seeing it.

11:49 PM, and the screen is a galaxy 6 orange clusters, 1 magenta core, thousands of links he never drew.

For 3 years that vault was a junk drawer of 4,182 markdown files in 12 folders with no structure, and he opened graph view once in 2024 and closed it again because it looked like dust.

Then he pointed Claude Code at the folder.

Not a repo, a vault plain markdown, no plugin, no API, one instruction: read all of it, find what repeats, write the links back into the files.

6 hours, 340,000 tokens, 3,900 files rewritten in place.

By morning the dust had a spine.

The magenta core was a note from 2023 he'd forgotten, 40 lines, a pricing idea typed on a train and never opened again and 214 notes pointed straight at it.

That's the part nobody sells you: Obsidian is just a folder of text files with no lock-in, no cloud, no schema, which means anything that reads text can read your head.

The graph didn't get smarter, it got honest.

He didn't buy a second-brain course, he gave an agent a folder path.
