@LiamKelso10 Not a specific “place” necessarily, but I have noticed the increase as well. Sometimes I’ll use the restroom and in front of me will be an advertisement— worst part is that it will actually get my attention and the thought of the ad will linger.. #UWJ201 #301
@HeathJoubert Both are important as they will still reach the media; reactive just eliminates a planned timeline. Bc of this, reactive may be more important to care abt as companies are scrunched under a certain amount of time to respond. They must think swiftly and productively. #UWJ201 #301
It’s reasonable to say that people has been trying to be more “authentic” on social media throughout the years. Public figures even use authenticity as a point of attraction. Does this shift impact the effects of PR vs advertising? Which is more favorable? #UWJ201 #301
When it comes to the principles of persuasion, is there one/some that is more convincing than others when it comes to the media in American society? #UWJ201 #301
How can security exist with labeling users under numerical codes if those codes inevitably end up being used like social security #— able to track users and their online activity even for future references? #UWJ201 #301
In light of Twitter’s finding that Wagner shared on Monday, it makes me question which of the following is more powerful when it comes to the persistence of a group’s belief: size, density, or homogeneity? Which will ensure a topic’s longer existence in media? #UWJ201 #301
Not related to this week’s material but while studying it hit me how many of us are just walking around society constantly absorbing content without realizing its impact on the way we think, the way we even perceive reality. Why’s journalism not talked abt more! #UWJ201 #301

@divya_d626 Already there is a lack of representation in terms of the communities mentioned. Along with the coverage limitation, it’s easy to project the representation of these marginalized groups onto one person (that may come and go as a trend), & that’s very dangerous! #UWJ201 #301
@ttforpresident I don’t think there’s a way to “really stop” these things, especially in such a political society. Removing people from platforms, however, takes away their social media presence. Through this elimination, there is less exposure created. #UWJ201 #301
@abbygill310 Because of how much social media is used in our daily lives, I agree thay we often forget there are people behind the screen. It’s definitely something we have to keep in mind— but along with that, people must also be held accountable regardless of where they speak. #UWJ201 #301
@maddiegamble11 People’s thoughts have always been influenced by others as that’s how we come to our own conclusions. The rise of media and constant stimulation are what I think contributes to the diminishing of our ability. There’s too much info that we may find ourselves lost. #UWJ201 #301
From the reading, the best journalism model theoretically is the mirror model. People, however, carry bias with them wherever they go. What can be implemented for us attempt to reach this model within the journalism career? #UWJ201 #301
@DamianoTea I think the concept will always exist because it’s human nature to conform to norms in hopes of avoiding social isolation. Through acknowledging the spiral of silence, I think it could actually be used to one’s benefit! #UWJ201 #301
@madi_hibby Despite the effectiveness of print, I think it’s inevitable for technology to keep improving, thus its implementation in our daily lives will only grow. Generations to come will likely grow more attached to the accessibility of devices. #UWJ201 #301
Learning about the spiral of silence & the factors that affect it (age, gender, self-esteem, etc) made me think about Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. Just like it, do you think there’s a hierarchy of factors that keeps us silent? When are we more susceptible to silence? #UWJ201 #301
@allisonbeneker I think it’s a matter of ego of the mind. People tend to take things personally if it matters a lot to them— their perspectives and beliefs are threatened. I can understand where your question comes from as generations are getting more and more liberal. #UWJ201 #301
@BrianneCapper I think it’s because we live under capitalism, thus money is the main incentive for corporations as profit should be made. The divide keeps the corporations running because they know then that there IS an audience promised. #UWJ201 #301
After learning about filter bubbles, I wonder if there are certain “ranks” to how much filters occur. After a certain amount of interest in topic XYZ, at what point does your feed simply become full of XYZ content? How much does the algorithm dictate our perspective? #UWJ201 #301
@whomstisnat To people who don’t have access to scholarly sources, they become less familiar/may find the info less relevant to them. It is an ongoing effect. #UWJ201 #301
@whomstisnat Adding on, it is critical to examine WHY is it that less factual sources are free and reputable ones not. Why must only those who are able to afford knowledge be the ones to receive it? Along with accessibility comes relevance.
