@rBillSimmonsPod Where did people come up with the fact that an auction takes that long or that it needs to be in person? It takes probably 30 minutes longer than a snake draft. Completely made up concern.
What’s interesting is it kind of depends on where you are sitting. I’ve had certain seats that are right in front of the speakers and I can barely hear the people next to me. Just ruined the game.
Other seats are farther from the speakers and it’s annoying, but largely ok.
@AndrewMarchand Andrew - why does MLB seemingly struggle with their media rights negotiations while the NBA flourishes when MLB has certain advantages (WS ratings, ASG ratings, local games ratings)? I get the NBA also has things going for it, but the gulf in value is crazy.
@mike_petriello Plus, you’d have to somehow believe that pitchers have been throwing much harder since about 2008…but then also threw hard back 40 years ago…so they just all stopped throwing hard sometime before 2008?
There is a portion of Yankee fandom on Twitter that is just plugging their ears and ignoring every Yankees source confirming that Arenado is not an option simply because they don’t want that to be true.
Gerrit Cole, 34, opted out of his 4 year $144m contract, hoping for 5 years $180m, and the Yankees called his bluff.
Blake Snell, 32, signs a 5 year $182m contract (lower PV with deferrals).
Gerrit’s elbow might be terrible, but Yankees got a deal.
@AndrewMarchand Got it. I just can’t stand getting a notification that someone homered or seeing it on Twitter before it happens on my TV because I’m streaming. But I’m probably chronically too online.
@AlexFast8 Gerrit Cole can opt out, but the Yankees can overrule the opt out by adding on an additional year to the deal. Seems virtually impossible at this stage that he’s a FA in 9 months.
