Despite heavy criticism from both russians and Ukrainians, the Tallinn Film Festival will proceed with screening the russian movie "Deaf Lovers".

Festival organizers also argue that it is not a "russian film", despite it being directed by russian filmmaker Boris Guts and featuring both russian actors in lead roles.

By ignoring the documented atrocities committed by russian soldiers against Ukrainian civilians and women in particular, the director presents a love story between a Ukrainian woman and a Russian man in Istanbul. We, Ukrainians, want to make it clear that this movie is a direct insult to Ukraine’s reality, creating a false narrative that disrespects the countless victims of the Russian invasion who were raped, tortured, and killed. This is not a time for romanticized stories; it’s a time to confront a brutal truth, because the war in Ukraine is still ongoing.

A Russian airstrike has hit a nine-story residential building in Kharkiv, destroying nearly an entire section of the apartment block.

There’s a fragment on a map showing Crimea being a part of russia. Just in case you or your production crew didn’t know — Crimea is a part of Ukraine, which was illegally and forcefully occupied by russians and their military in 2014.

Moreover, you’ve invited a russian onto your show to represent russia, whereas global sports officials at least make them take part under a neutral flag.

The country that shells Ukrainian cities and kills Ukrainians should not be represented and invited in any show or sports while they are murdering people in another country. If that’s not enough — literally today russia has hit the center of the Ukrainian city Chernihiv with a ballistic missile, killing 7, including a child, and injuring 129 people.

Ukrainians are in full-scale war with russia and have been fighting with the aggressor for their rights, freedom and lives.
