What is happening to youth sports?
Basketball. Volleyball. Baseball. The story is the same.
Lines out the door for tournaments and showcases every weekend... but where are the lines for player development?
We've got kids traveling coast to coast chasing exposure — but skipping the actual work that builds strong, skilled, durable athletes.
Weekend after weekend, they’re playing games, filming highlights, chasing offers... but how many are consistently working on their strength, movement, mindset, or fundamentals?
The truth is: You don’t get better just by playing.
Development happens in the quiet hours. In the weight room. In skill sessions. In recovery.
Too many athletes — and parents — are buying into the idea that more games = more progress.
But showcases without skill = exposure without results.
Tournaments without training = wear and tear without development.
It’s time to flip the script.
Get back to the gym. Get under the bar.
Build strength, improve mechanics, grow confidence.
Then go dominate those tournaments.

You have to keep hammering acceleration. Stay the course Monday four Gear 2 runs then four Gear 3 runs Thursday. If we are splitting hairs with a combine guy that is at his absolute genetic peak. Give him 2 Gear 2 runs and 2 Gear 3 runs on Monday then 4 Gear 3 runs on Thursday. Pair heavy leg training on Monday and fast legs training on Thursday
@Tony_Villani_ 🤣🤣🤣 @m8xwell__ slow down, Max come back do it again, Max get over here! I loved watching you try and wrangle high energy Max in all the demo videos!
@Tony_Villani_ Been to XPE three times now - @NFL season prep, @NFL Combine prep, doesn't matter. I have NEVER seen anyone run a 40 yard dash. Hell, the building is so small you can't even run a 30 yard dash without having to launch yourself into a bag to stop!
@CoachDHansen@Tony_Villani_@m8xwell__ From our understanding there is some great programming things coming to the XPE Game Speed app https://t.co/tRWk1xV4qt
Hurts for me to hear from one of our new college Football players at a college that the workouts are hard bc the warmups are so long and tiring? Hmmmmmm. Should I have prepared this athlete differently??? Constant questions. But I dont think "warmups" should be "tiring."
Grateful to be able to assist nfl combine prep with best in the business! @Tony_Villani_@MattGates_XPE
Cool video comparison for any of you @SHREDmillSpeed owners out there working with younger athlete populations.
While outputs are obviously different, the intent/overall execution should be the same, and pretty damn similar!
Excited to keep learning and sharing how the training of elite level athletes can be scaled, modified, and applied at the younger levels!
It's astonishing how many colleges still cling to the outdated belief that sheer hard work alone guarantees victory. NOTICE TO ALL COLLEGES: Everyone trains hard these days, but the teams that train smart are the ones dominating the field—and you're left scratching your heads, thinking it's because your players didn't grind enough. This isn't the 1990s anymore! The data is clear: you're just breaking down your athletes physically without gaining an edge. WAKE UP! How can you boast million-dollar facilities and top-tier talent, yet still believe that running players into the ground is the key to success—especially when your teams are stuck scraping by with just 8 or 9 wins a season? Take a hard look at your training methods, your staff, and yourselves. The same tired approaches will always deliver the same mediocre results.
“If you’re a high school athlete you better be lifting year round. You’re competing with transfer portal athletes who train 48 weeks a year. You’re a baseball player who lifts for 3 months in the off season then says “I have travel ball” or “I’m not lifting in season” you are already behind. Lifting is the X factor for baseball players”

@SHREDmillSpeed We cant wait to track by name! That will be a game changer for us! Thank you @SHREDmillSpeed for listening and putting your coaches first!
This is the REAL reason why people PLAY FASTER than they time in 40. Take a listen. First. Took me listening to the greatest EVER. 2nd. "Trying" to believe them. 3rd. Coming up with tests to DISPROVE them. 4th. Seeing the tests prove me wrong.
"What you have just saw is the fastest he has been in five freaking years." Thanks to @heykayadams for not listening to the rest of the media saying he has slowed down. All we wanted was some space to find!!! (Thanks for the help @AndrewSpruill_ as always).
