You have sold your integrity for pittance. What will you say if one of your daughters encounters a naked man in her locker room who is there becasue of the “trans bill of rights” you support?
Will you say, “I needed to keep my job.” Or maybe, “I folded like a coward, sorry about that.”
Kara Dansky spent 3 lovely days in the Bay Area helping California women fight for our rights. She testified against AB 1803, a so-called “hate speech” bill.
We were so happy to host her that we had to throw two parties! (Read about them & her testimony in her Substack ⬇️)
We miss Kara’s 𝕏 account. @premium, how is it fair that she’s still paying for an account she can’t access?
When two icons of the women’s rights movement meet: one seasoned by more than a decade in the fight, the other newly battle-tested after taking on Scott Wiener.
Both forged in fire & mighty in spirit.
And both, as it turns out, tiny in stature.
@MHurabiell & Kara Dansky
@jk_rowling@SarahLudford And yesterday, before Congress, a top school superintendent testified federal law mandates biological boys must be allowed in female only spaces. Although the law states the opposite, officials like this refuse to acknowledge it, much less follow it. Ideological capture
“Once hate speech is recognized in law, government decides what counts as hate. And that definition shifts with whoever holds power. These laws are easily turned against dissenting voices, including women who speak plainly about sex.”
Kara Dansky testifies against AB 1803, a @CAJewishCaucus priority bill authored by @AsmLowenthal.
When justifying the need for this bill, Asm. Lowenthal talks about the very real problem of antisemitism. But suppressing or chilling people’s speech will not change anyone’s mind. People will not become less antisemitic because the government forces their mouths closed. We have data that tells us this. In fact, it can radicalize people more.
In 1977, neo-Nazis announced they would march through Skokie, Illinois, a town home to thousands of Holocaust survivors. The town tried to stop them. The ACLU took the Nazis’ case. The lawyer who argued it was a Jewish man named David Goldberger.
That is the America I believe in.
The America that allows even the worst ideas to be spoken aloud, because the answer to bad speech is more speech, never less. The America that understands the difference between liberty and state control. The America that refuses to hand government the power to decide which views may be spoken and which must be punished.
Both my grandfathers crossed an ocean to fight fascism. They came home to a country deeply imperfect, but committed at its core to freedom. They did not storm beaches and bleed in foreign fields so that, three generations later, their grandchildren would sit silent while the state chipped away at our rights.
AB 1803 now heads to the CA Senate Judiciary Committee, and Women Are Real will be there to fight it every step of the way.
The First Amendment does not defend itself. It survives only because, in every generation, people refuse to nod along.
@SashaAguilar69 And, Senator Wiener is working overtime to ensure that the absurd, totalitarian new secular religion of transgenderism is embedded in every aspect of society...despite his not having any evidence even proving the existence of gender identities.
@PNWConservative of trans-identifying males (i.e. trans women in "trans speak") drag queens, male cross dressers, and feminine gay men feel the same way? My fellow women, how concerned should be that this man represents a fair % of male members the trans movement 😬?
@PNWConservative are simply not considered here...at all. They are non-entities described in the most dehumanizing fashion ("biological c*nts") possible. For this man, not only is the future NOT female, he would be happy if it were completely devoid of members of the female sex.
What percentage
@genspect@drjosephburgo@Scott_Wiener Scott, still waiting for you to cite your sources proving the reality of so-called gender identities. Have asked you again and again and again, but no reply. And yet, you continue to write more and more laws in embedding gender identity ideology into more aspects of our society.
@genspect@drjosephburgo@Scott_Wiener trans ideology...a therapist who might explore the underlying reasons why such young people reject the reality of their own immutable sex, which was established at conception, in favor of a delusional, subjective, self-discerned "gender identity."
@genspect@drjosephburgo@Scott_Wiener So, if detransitioners "deserve all the support and health care in the world," Senator, why didn't you write a bill for that instead? No. You did the opposite. With SB 934, you made it harder for trans-identifying young people to seek out a therapist not captured by
@drjosephburgo worded his testimony very well! What @Scott_Wiener is saying is that he's okay with the fact that this damages *some* kids. Which is not acceptable under any circumstances. If this were any other medical trial, and/or medical issue, with the extent of harm that is inflicted physically on the bodies of these kids this scandal would be completely unacceptable. Yet Scott is out here making the argument that it only damages *some* as if the bodies of trans people are physically different from the bodies of non trans-identified peers but this simply isn't the case. His bill SB 934, which will further seal into law protections for a medicalized approach to gender related distress for minors, will inflict the same harm on the physical bodies of all of the people treated in this way. This is something that I personally feel the people of Scott Weiner's position simply do not consider. They hear "success" stories of minor transitions but they fail to consider that these minors who transitioned as children and became adults in that way do not have anything different to compare their experience to. They never grew up as in they never went through their own biological puberty to be able to compare their lives to say that they are better off transitioned as opposed to non transitioned. The same can be said for adult transitioners, they did not transition as children to understand the consequences that they would have had to face physically for not going through puberty. So at the end of the day all sides of this argument are not understanding or considering the other side. And in fact are refusing to understand as in Scott's position as I testified in front of him and met with his policy analyst, and Scott said that myself and those testifying with me don't believe trans people exist even though my best friend is trans and his policy analyst was incredibly rude and completely dismissive of the harm that this sort of treatment pathway can cause. Other groups have tried to meet with him only to be ignored. Based on their actions it's very difficult to say that Scott and his supporters are acting in good faith in regards to this group of people.
