The Government must not mistake the voices of a few for the sentiments of the Ghanaian people. The decision on the Gold Fields contract has become more than a mining issue,it has become a test of whether our leaders are prepared to put Ghana first.
The recent xenophobic attacks against Africans, including Ghanaians, in South Africa have sparked anger and outrage across our nation. At a time when our fellow citizens abroad are facing hostility and insecurity, we expect our government to demonstrate courage, patriotism, and an unwavering commitment to protecting our national interest.
For this reason, any attempt to renew the Gold Fields contract will be viewed by many as a decision that ignores the growing concerns of ordinary Ghanaians. The people are demanding that our natural resources serve Ghana first and that decisions of such national importance reflect the will and aspirations of the citizenry.
We therefore serve notice that if the government proceeds with the renewal of this contract, it should be prepared for a massive democratic response from citizens and students across the country. Ghanaians are angry, Ghanaians are watching, and Ghanaians are ready to lawfully take to the streets to make their voices heard.
Yes, we mean it, we will hit the streets soon!

With all humility in truth, I entreat Ghana not to miss Sports Panorama tomorrow at 7 pm on Citi Fm. The truth behind the BS selection shall be revealed. The dishonesty, corruption, and selfishness will all be dealt with. God will save Ghana from these people. Time is coming.
Eid Mubarak ! 🐄 🐏
I call on my Muslim brothers and sisters to use this special occasion to see everyone as a brother or sister and show love, care and compassion!
Thank you
The concerns raised by Senior @KofiEducation on hostel investment economics are valid and deserve national attention. Indeed, building and maintaining hostel facilities in areas such as Legon, Westlands, and Haatso requires huge capital investment, and private investors naturally seek returns on their investments.
However, the position of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has never been that hostel facilities should be “cheap” at the expense of investors. Our concern has always been about affordability, fairness, and compliance with the laws governing rent regulation in Ghana.
From the explanation provided, it is understandable why a hostel owner who invests nearly $2 million into infrastructure may charge significant fees over a long-term recovery period. Nonetheless, the growing concerns from students are largely centered on situations where hostel charges are increased arbitrarily without corresponding improvements in facilities, services, or living conditions.
The issue, therefore, is not merely the existence of high prices, but the absence of justification and regulation in some instances.
The Rent Act, 1963 (Act 220) and the mandate of the Rent Control Department were established to prevent unreasonable rent increments and protect both tenants and property owners. Under the law, rent adjustments are expected to follow due process and must be justifiable. In practice, rent is generally not expected to be increased arbitrarily within short intervals without proper engagement or reasonable basis such as renovations, expansion of services, improved security, utilities, or other infrastructural developments.
This is precisely why NUGS petitioned the Rent Control Department to:
1.Investigate hostel pricing structures around tertiary institutions.
2.Ascertain the percentage increases over the years.
3.Determine the justification for such increases.
4.Ensure compliance with Ghana’s rent laws and regulations.
NUGS recognizes the role of private investors in addressing the accommodation deficit confronting students across the country. However, while investors deserve returns on investment, students also deserve transparency, fairness, and humane accommodation policies.
Our advocacy is therefore not an attack on hostel owners, but a call for balance where investment sustainability and student affordability can coexist within the framework of the law. And something can be done about it.

“We will not submit to noise, rascality, or disobedience to lawful court orders. We must uphold democracy, respect the judiciary whether it favours us or not, and remain faithful to the principles that hold our nation together.
There is no path to national greatness except the path of building one country, one common vision, one shared future of progress and prosperity for all Nigerians. That is what Renewed Hope is about.
They cannot scare me off. I have been through this road before and, if I must walk it again and again for our country, I will. There is no better place than Nigeria, and no one will build it for us except ourselves.
I have listened. I know the journey is not easy. But I give you my word: I will not run away from this task. I will not give up. Coordinate from the ward level, act as one family, stay focused on what we promised Nigerians, and stand firm.”
This was my message to the leadership and coordinators of my Renewed Hope Ambassadors this afternoon.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The work continues.

Commonwealth Youth Development Summit Organized by the Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC) at the Oxford University had us at a panel discussion to discuss youth development.
Ghana’s approach to youth inclusion is anchored in a simple but powerful principle from our National Youth Policy: “Benefit for youth, involve youth together for a prosperous future.”
This is not a slogan; it is a governance philosophy that shapes how we design policy, structure institutions, and deliver programmes. We recognize that inclusion is not an outcome it is a deliberate process that must be built into systems at every level.
Youth Development must be treated with Urgency and not an afterthought, other Countries should learn from the case of Ghana !
