The future of knowledge work is incredibly highly skilled.

People are so focused on how much you can get done without knowing much, and that will lead to a certain type of productivity growth. Particularly when it comes to internal tools and prototyping.

But when it comes to professional (profit-center) work, I'm more convinced than ever that the move will be in the opposite direction. Highly skilled people who are capable of judging model output, and chiseling it as required, are going to thrive. People that can only get median SOTA model output will be worthless.

@FDEdir @yuhasbeentaken I see what you’re saying, it’s becoming an SA plus customer support role. I still find most companies using FDE as old school SAs, since post sales SA and CS were separate roles and were billed separately to accounts. I guess AI is changing the way things are done in this regard

@yuhasbeentaken splitting hairs but the whole point is to make sure whatever it is that your company sells integrates well into the customer environment. In this case you are swapping out custom scripts that an SA might do in Ansible/Python etc to custom code/modules that FDE builds.

@FDEdir @yuhasbeentaken SAs also ship: there’s a lot of custom scripts and configurations that one needs to write that are at the same level of complexity as whatever code the FDE is shipping. It’s integration/glue work in both cases however

@MediaKing I feel like 4X/Turn based strategy would be a more appropriate indicator of that, since the StarCraft/warcraft/C&C type RTS was more focused on tactics and micro strategies rather than long term planning

This is the method Steve Jobs used to get things done:

> write down 3-5 things you need to do for the day.
> everything else is a noise
> you have 18 waking hours during the day
> spend 80% of it on the those 3-5 tasks, and 20% on the noise.

I do it daily and it really works if you respect the process.

@arpit_bhayani The irony is there have probably been more public outages, incidents and postmortems in the last couple of years since AI took off then previously. Many companies have dropped a couple or more 9s in their service reliabilities too.

@prateek_0041 Very relatable. Great content being made in this field but one has to constantly sift through a lot of different resources to progress.

Sometimes one creator may not have a good explanation on one concept and you might also need to find an alternative one from someone else.

@Franc0Fernand0 Good and bad of X is that the algorithm really amplifies and throws at you whatever it is you are consuming and interacting with the most. My feed is full of different roadmaps and folk doing 30/60/90 day inferencing challenges lol too much to keep up with

I have bookmarked so many great resources across X, Reddit and YT that I gotta give props and thanks to the folk who worked hard to make this stuff.

There really needs to be more efficient way to explore, evaluate and productively consume educational material.

I have to remind myself of this every few weeks.

Collecting resources, buying the course, saving the article, downloading another book might feel like progress.

But accumulating material isn't learning. It's just a way to feel busy without doing the actual work. And at some point, the unread pile grows until it becomes noise.

Before looking for another resource, use what you already have. You almost always already have enough to start.

@martin_casado It means you’re coding with a modicum of thought and tact and are not using it as a slop cannon. I think you’d be very happy with an open model or a lower tier model from the frontier labs

@KevinNaughtonJr Building software is still difficult. We just automated some of the refactoring and copying repetition when fixing or adding new things.

@arian_ghashghai There’s nothing wrong with having a solid marketing engine power your business, but after a while you need a product moat. For instance, I only remember Cluely v1, and the ling long memes they currently post on YouTube. Little to no clue (pun intended) what they actually do now
