i’ve been a reader since i was 6? 7?
and it’s always been fiction (never been much of a self help or nonfiction reader)
it started with enid blyton, ruskin bond, amar chitra katha in first grade, then there was geronimo stilton, jk rowling, rick riordan, suzanne collins, christopher paolini, khaled hosseini through most of high school. then came all of the romance or feminist novels in college, then some emily henry, sally rooney, dolly alderton to now arrive at murakami, elif shafak, chitra divarakuni type of culturally influenced authors
point is, books have never been a “productive” addition to my life; the desire to read has only been driven by the pursuit for a meaningful story. to smile and cry and anger with the protagonist, or to be transported into a whole new universe (it’s like watching a movie but better), or to finish the book and sit still for a while to just relish the experience. nonfiction readers will probably never experience this level of emotional investment in a story
it’s hard to stick to this habit of picking the colourful book over the practical book, when everyone around you seems to think that’s the better choice for your career, self development, education or even relationships
but what most don’t realise is that fiction will teach you everything about life & love & people, through storytelling that is otherwise impossible
and so, every time i’m in a bookstore, i feel like i’m 6 years old again & pick the nicest cover anyway
Krishna Says:
You don't need to know how it's going to happen. You just need to believe that it will. The universe loves a stubborn heart that refuses to give up hope.
The origin story of Jaskirat Singh Rangi deserved more time! Ranveer Singh is EXCEPTIONAL as the boy compelled to take up arms!
This storyline, his connection to his land, his unbreakable bond with his family was far more compelling than the speed run montages in Lyari!
NOT AN ACCIDENT, but if you're seeing this on MARCH 20th, the winning era begins for you. Relationships. Health. Wealth. Everythiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing gets better from here. You're so lucky.🌸
