I think the GameCube is one of those systems that just has games that look good no matter how old they are. A simple upscale is perfect for these games cause they were artistically amazing for the time
Jak and Daxter built one of gaming's first truly seamless open worlds in 2001 with ZERO loading screens, zero quest markers, and zero waypoints. Naughty Dog used sightlines and landmarks to guide you, trusting the player's intelligence to explore. Modern games could learn a lot.
