Project Highlight: Surge Credit
Bitcoin-backed credit only matters if Bitcoin stays Bitcoin.
That is where @surge_credit fits. It lets users borrow against real BTC through programmable Taproot vaults, while lenders supply stablecoin liquidity into an open credit market. The goal is simple: turn Bitcoin into usable collateral without making wrapped BTC, custodial lending or rehypothecation the default path.
The problem is familiar. Many Bitcoin holders want liquidity without selling BTC, but the usual options often come with tradeoffs: centralized lenders, opaque collateral handling, wrapped assets, bridge exposure or poor UX. Surge tries to keep the core action closer to Bitcoin itself.
Borrowers lock BTC on Bitcoin. Lenders fund the other side with stablecoins. Credit lines are managed through vault logic, and the market helps find the rate instead of hiding the cost of capital inside a black-box institution.
For bitcoin:native capital, this is a serious use case. Borrowing against Bitcoin is easier to understand than complex yield loops, and it fits how many long-term holders already think: keep the BTC, access liquidity when needed.
Surge Credit is worth watching because it works on one of BTCFi’s cleanest markets - credit against native Bitcoin. Not “make BTC productive” as a slogan, but make BTC usable as collateral without moving users away from the asset they came for.

Surge is not a drivechain. Not a sidechain. Not an L2.
It's a full protocol on Bitcoin's native rails, Taproot Vaults holding your BTC, and a Distributed Custody Network that acts as the communication layer to Base for USDC.
That's exactly why a recent app authentication issue never touched your funds.
The Android Production v1.0.9 is live - you can sign in again.
iOS (TestFlight): https://t.co/otiWwhe6kL
Android (Production): https://t.co/nyoeypZ1TT
Sign in there as you normally would. Everything else is unchanged - no funds or protocol functions were ever affected; this was a front-end issue only. The earn dashboard at https://t.co/UHD6yMZFWS has stayed live throughout.
The production update for iOS is still in the review queue. This is likely to take several days.
As always: refer only to our official channels and in-app messages. Stay away from any scams.

🚨 App authentication is temporarily down. Your Bitcoin is not. 🚨
We've run into an issue with our app authentication service, the layer that handles email OTP verification and keeps you signed in. We're fixing it now and adding a fallback to make it more resilient.
👉 No funds or protocol functions are affected; this is a front-end issue only.
🟡 What this means: existing users may get signed out, and new sign-ups are paused until this is resolved. The protocol itself is untouched, your BTC is in its Taproot vault exactly where it was, unilateral exit path unchanged.
🟧 Verify it yourself: the earn dashboard at https://t.co/UHD6yMZFWS is live and running, independent of the app. App fixes have to go through app store review, which is why this takes a little longer to resolve on the front end.
🟢 Your options, no rush:
1️⃣ Use a TestFlight (iOS) / open testing (Android) build, links coming soon
2️⃣ Or wait for the production fix, currently in the normal app store review queue (can take a few days)
We'll post here the moment the production update is live.
⚠️One thing to watch: no need to panic. Refer only to our in-app messages and official social handles. Stay away from any scams.

Partial withdrawals are live on Surge 🎉
Until now, pulling Bitcoin collateral meant fully repaying your credit line first, even if your vault held far more than your debt required. That's over.
When your credit line is below 50%, you can now withdraw excess collateral straight to your self-custodial wallet, and the Taproot vault stays intact: every spending path and your unilateral exit, untouched.
Draw, repay, and now withdraw, on your terms. This is full flexibility for Bitcoiners, as far as it gets.
Full walkthrough below 👇
One of the best breakdowns of Surge yet, from the @PresidioPod — @moneyball , @dksf , and @MaxAWebster (Bay Area Bitcoiners Podcast).
They unwound the inner workings, not just the pitch:
Bitcoin-native.
1️⃣ BTC stays on Bitcoin : no wrapping, no bridging, no leaving the chain.
2️⃣ A revolving credit line, not a loan and no KYC. Borrow against your BTC without handing over your identity.
3️⃣ Taproot used the way it was designed, not as chain spam. The NUMS key closes the backdoor Taproot would otherwise leave open.
4️⃣ Unilateral exit, the CSV timelock matches the credit line's term, so you can always reclaim your BTC on your own.
5️⃣ No riding Morpho or existing DeFi markets, Surge bootstraps its own liquidity. One of its kind, and Bitcoin-native to the core.
And they pressed on the open questions: DCN trust assumptions, oracles. Exactly the ones worth asking.

Bitcoiners are conflating DeFi with the whole of crypto. Let's separate the two.
👎 Crypto is the casino, meme coins, rug pulls, tokens minted to extract from retail.
👍 DeFi is real innovation, and it deserves to be taken seriously: lending, trading, and derivatives rebuilt as open, verifiable code instead of gated systems run by a few institutions.
👓 It's time to recognize the difference. Stablecoin adoption is now real. The opening is here to make Bitcoin the underlying asset for the next wave of open DeFi.
🤝 Silver Sponsor: Surge Bitcoin
You built your stack. You shouldn't have to sell it to use it.
Surge is a Bitcoin-native credit line that lets you borrow against your Bitcoin without giving up custody. Non-custodial, fully on-chain, collateral secured in a Taproot-based smart vault: verifiable, transparent, never re-hypothecated.
Credit the way Bitcoin was meant to work.

"So Surge is basically the same as WBTC?"
→ No ←
WBTC is a custodial IOU. Surge keeps your BTC in a Taproot vault enforced by Bitcoin, with unilateral exit.
Not your keys, not your coins. That answer is the whole product.
