Every Algeria dataset on the internet still lists 48 wilayas.
Algeria has had 69 since April 2026.
So I open-sourced GeoAlgeria — the current, complete Algeria dataset, one npm install away. 🇩🇿 🧵
🇩🇿 Two Algerian ministries sit on facility data nobody can use. One buries it in an internal GIS. The other lists half its institutions on a page published only in Arabic.
Spent the day prying all of it loose. Three datasets, all installable:
⚽️ sports (new): 5,141 sports facilities from the Ministry of Youth and Sports GIS. Stadiums, pools, proximity fields, athletics tracks, 27 types. Capacity, accessibility, year and coordinates on each.
🏩 jeunesse (v2): rebuilt on that same official GIS. 2,334 youth establishments, up from 2,076, now with French and Arabic names and the full field set.
📚 enseignement-superieur: 110 to 177 institutions. Added the 19 private and 48 other-ministry schools the official English page leaves out.
Snapshots, not live availability. One wilaya code joins all three to the rest of GeoAlgeria.

🇩🇿 Algeria's vocational training ministry has a working public API. Real JSON. Real coordinates. 1,932 establishments.
One catch: the WAF blocks you if you're not in Algeria.
https://t.co/OQtDRIZENb serves every CFPA, INSFP, DFEP, private center and annex in the country. Each record has a name, type, commune, capacity, boarding info, contact details, and GPS coordinates for 71% of them.
1,209 public. 723 private accredited. 58 wilayas.
@geoalgeria/formation-professionnelle: the full dataset, cleaned, typed, installable from anywhere.
856 CFPA training centers. 182 INSFP national institutes. 58 directorate offices. 723 private schools. Annexes, IEPs, the lot.
npm i @geoalgeria/formation-professionnelle
JSON, CSV, GeoJSON, TypeScript. MIT.
That's 12 Algeria datasets in the registry now. If you're building any training-based project or news-related one, let know what you need and I'll try to implement it in the next version.

Algeria's official tourism data portal is offline. The backend returns empty arrays. The interactive map loads nothing.
If you want structured, geocoded tourism data for Algeria, there is no single source you can point at and say "use this."
So I went looking. OpenStreetMap has 995 hotels and 1,248 attractions. Wikidata has curated heritage sites and national parks. And then I found a surprise: Algeria's space agency (ASAL) runs a public geoportail with 282 thermal springs. Each entry has exact coordinates, water temperature, debit rate, altitude, and mineral composition. It sits on a public ArcGIS endpoint. Nobody packages it.
I composited all three into one dataset: @geoalgeria/tourisme.
4,348 geocoded entries across all 69 wilayas:
. 995 hotels (OSM, openly licensed)
. 1,248 attractions and museums
. 1,184 historic and archaeological sites
. 282 thermal springs (ASAL, authoritative)
. 32 national parks and nature reserves
npm i @geoalgeria/tourisme
JSON, CSV, GeoJSON, full TypeScript types. MIT licensed, validated on every commit.
The hotel count is honest: OSM covers roughly 60% of Algeria's hotels. If you know a better open source, I want to hear about it.
