🚨🗣️🇮🇹 Alessandro Del Piero on what happened between him and Zinedine Zidane after the 2006 FIFA World Cup final:
"After the final whistle, I left my teammates celebrating the World Cup and went to see my club teammate, David Trezeguet. He was devastated. I reminded him that he had given France the EURO 2000 title and told him that these things happen in football."
"Then I headed to the French dressing room to find my old friend, Zinedine Zidane. We shared an indescribable friendship, and I wanted to comfort him after everything that had happened."
"In the tunnel, I found him alone, carrying the pain of defeat and the disappointment of the red card. He looked at me in surprise and said, 'Wow... how did you leave all that celebration and come here?'"
"I replied, 'Winning the World Cup will never make me forget my friend.'"
"He hugged me, took off his shirt, signed it for me, and said in Italian: 'Thank you, my friend. I'm happy for you. You're the best player I've ever played with, and you truly deserve to be a World Cup champion.'" ❤️🇮🇹🤝🇫🇷
🚨 Angel Di María subtly reminds everyone he was the missing piece for Argentina:
🗣️Reporter: Quick one for you, Ángel. Since you stopped playing alongside Messi with the national team, Argentina hasn’t won any major trophies again. What do you have to say about that?
🗣️Di María: (smiles) Look, I can’t say too much… but when you don’t have a player like me in the team, this is what happens. The boys fought hard, they gave everything for the trophy, but in football there has to be a winner. Simple as that.
🚨 LIONEL MESSI ON RODRI WINNING THE FIFA WORLD CUP MVP 🏆🇪🇸
🗣️ LOINEL MESSI...
I don't think there's any favoritism. Rodri led Spain to the World Cup. When you guide your team to the biggest trophy, it's only natural that you're among the favorites for the MVP.
Look at Kylian Mbappé too..he had an incredible tournament. If France had won the World Cup, he probably would've been the favorite for the award. That's how football works.
These awards aren't about bias. They're about what you do on the pitch and what you achieve as a team.
Congratulations to Rodri and Spain. They gave everything throughout the tournament, and you could see that in every match. Football rewards the best, and Rodri was outstanding. He fully deserves this MVP.
