To ritually become a Muslim, you must testify to faith in Allah and immediately afterward recognise Muhammad, which is associating partners with Allah.

If Islam has always existed since the time of Adam, then “La ilaha illa Allah” should be enough to ritually declare yourself Muslim.

In reality Islam is Muhammad’s invention, and there is no Islam without association with Muhammad; likewise there is no Allah of the Quran without Muhammad.

Some people go to the mosques and remain there until sunset, busy in Duʿāʾ.

However, to specifically intend staying in the mosque from Ẓuhr until Maghrib is not something prescribed, as the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not do that.

What is legislated and recommended is to increase in Duʿāʾ throughout the day of ʿArafah, wherever a person may be.

The focus should be on abundant supplication, not on fixing a specific form of staying in the masjid.
