Probably the most fair way for the committee to structure the field moving forward is to guarantee the top 5 champions a spot in the field, but seed the full 12 team field where they are in the top 25 CFP rankings and let the champions host a 1st round game no matter what. (3/3)

Any season like this year where they go 12-0 or 11-1, they’re set up to host the 5th best conference champion, and then face the 4th best conference champion at a neutral site as the 5 seed. It’s far and away the easiest path to the semifinals among all teams in the field. (2/3)
