A personal reflection on 57 years spent following @StockportCounty . A look back over nearly 2,000 games on 181 grounds featuring 737 players and 36 managers.

@robertmdaws Simply and indisputably 'The King'
65 years watching and still the most exciting player I have ever seen. All a matter of opinion of course!
@StockportCounty Dont forget the 69 who were at Luton back in March 2012. Times were harder, wins rarer and money in short supply.
But that's all legacy stuff......
@BillyBy17@ClassicCounty Never a truer word Billy.
Broke my heart 5 years ago to walk away after 57 years. By then it was clear that the connect between Club and fans was going to be irretrievably broken. Everything I'd loved about being a County fan, (triumphs against the odds etc) was ripped asunder.
@StockportCounty First and second paragraphs have always been the case.
But paying for it just demonstrates clearly just how much the club has moved from a fan / club relationship to a commercial operation. We are little but business customers now.
@CountyPodcast Absolutely essential for today's new breed to understand.
Listening is best but if you're a reader try my thoughts here. A chronological set of pieces outlining all the gory details

@GaryCarter_1979@StockportCounty £45m + later Gary. Frankly a push from where County were in 2019 to 1pm yesterday is the least that could be expected.
@_SByrne Just confirms to me why, after near 2,000 games over 57 years, my decision to walk away back in '21 was, from a personal perspective, correct.
Clear then that the Club was changing into an entity which was against my values.
This written about City but equally relevant in SK3
@countyscarf Pitifully bad.
And this from an organisation which talks about how it has been brought into the modern age. A 16 year old intern with the bare modicum of common sense would have spotted this with a bit of proof reading.
Too many chiefs ....
Got it in one. The conversion from a club and team, with real connection with the support, to a purely shiny commercial enterprise was always going to lead to a disconnect.
@ClassicCounty Not what I meant. Twitter does this though. Try and make slightly complex point and the character limit forces it to he simplified then misunderstood.
I'm just a bit worried pace of The Project has lost some of what made County County.
Winning masks it. Defeat lays it bare.
Highlight tonight was seeing a group of relatable, humble, down to earth group of County players on the pitch.
How many of the current crop of staff - never mind players - know the words of the scarf?
The football journey has been amazing but has the club's personality changed?
2,308 County appearances across the 16 that day, including 10 (TEN) County Centurions 🎩
Legendary, a squad that every County fan should know 👑

@countyshirts Some might suggest that Sam was a prime example of recruitment being equally based on application and attitude as well as ability ... as indeed were all of the NLN title team.
@countyshirts Just my opinion but SCAN numbers after 2012/13 are meaningless. Might have been NLN but they were still senior games. To airbrush away any player who appeared from 2013 to 2019 (aside from certain FA Cup games) was simply wrong.
@StockportCounty Quite a few on that list aren't even recognised by the @scan_scheme decision to not include NLN games.
Ridiculous - they were all senior games. Can't just airbrush 6 seasons away.
