Matt Damon says Saving Private Ryan passed on his audition tape until Robin Williams introduced him to Spielberg
"Robin took Ben and me to meet Steven cause he knew it was never a bad thing to meet the greatest filmmaker of all time"
"I had put myself on tape and I had read for Private Ryan and I hadn't been cast"
"Spielberg said, that's the exact type of person I'd want to play Private Ryan, it was only because Robin introduced me to him that he went, oh okay, you're the kind of guy I'm looking for"
MH monsoon is off to a brutal start.
Just 21.3 mm of rain in June 1–15, a 72% deficit. This is no ordinary dry spell - it’s a serious red flag for sowing and water stress.

Mother's Day is just around the corner and Moms, this is your reminder - self-love is not selfish. It’s just the only “me time” that doesn’t require a snack negotiation. 🌼

Beneath the sunbeam’s gentle glow,
A toy waits where laughter will flow.
The school bell fades, the days run free,
Summer’s calling, “Come play with me!”

It's that time of the year again when people go to the #Oscars dressed as books.
*Some of these were done very, very, very early this morning, so aren't the best *
A thread 🧵
He is right. We Indians just don't take responsibility for the garbage we generate. It's a deep rooted mindset that cleaning up our garbage is someone else's job, not ours.
I don't see this in any other country - not even the poorer ones like Sri Lanka, Vietnam or Thailand.
Garbage has nothing to do with poverty, and everything to do with the social structure of the country and the mindset of its people 😔
If you live in the Shivajinagar Model Colony ward, here's some data that will help you differentiate candidates. I scored candidates based on what they declared in affidavits. A central area of Pune with major commercial zones & colleges (FC road, etc)

Saw this 500 yr old Italian map of India (referred as "Indostan") in a Florence museum from the Medici collections.
What struck me wasn’t the accuracy, but the mindset behind it.
It reflects a time when India was seen as something to understand and trade with, not something to rule.
It’s shown as a civilisation made up of many kingdoms, rivers, and cultures. Look harder and you can find mentions of Gujarat, Orissa, Deccan, Bengal, Malabar. Remember, this is a 500yr old map.
No borders. No rulers. No “ownership”.
Just geography, trade, and prosperity.
Maps tell you how the world sees you.
This one reminds you that before colonisation, India was already seen as vast, wealthy, and complex.
It also reminds us how much our country hasn't changed.
History often begins earlier than we are taught.
And, it repeats itself.
Foggy morning today for #Pune
The quiet moments in Pune-4 are the best. The ones when construction work has yet to begin.
Gentle breeze. Bird calls. Just what the soul needs.
In this cold weather, nothing warms the heart like a bowl of ताकातली चाकवत आणि भात — handed down with care. From my grandma’s kitchen, to my mother’s hands, and now my MIL’s, each spoonful carries stories, warmth, tradition. A taste that’s more than food — it’s home.
