To be fair, the left (whatever that means these days) leaving or being forced out of an establishment party like the Democrats IS one good point they make, but not for the reasons they think.
Subtweeting because I honestly can't be arsed with a fight, but anyone who looks at the Democrats at this point and says "this party needs to be MORE centre-ground to win" has got two arses on their body instead of a head with a brain in it.
Virtually every serious commentary outfit, such as the FT, has woken up to the fact that the establishment (whatever that means to people) is fucking despised in virtually every country you care to name, and you think what's needed is MORE establishment politics?
There's obviously the counterargument - American workers are bourgeoisified, some are even far-right, they will never move that way - but then, they said the same about French workers in 1968, and look what happened then. Don't write off the Americans yet, is all I'm saying.
The lesser evil has once again failed to keep out the greater evil. That said, and from an outsider's perspective, I don't think it's wise to write off the people of a country where 10% of that population actively took to the streets to protest the last time Trump was in office.
I feel like the US as leading world power is going through similar stuff now as Britain did in the 19th century - relative (in US' case) loss of influence, economic struggles, followed by social instability. In Britain that eventually led to a general strike. Who can say with US?
every four years we watch the presidential election of the most evil country in the world, with its two evil parties, and two evil candidates, funded by their evil billionaires, and for some reason are dumbfounded when an evil person wins
Nerds get fixated on the mechanics of an alternative world rather than embracing the fictional space where the symbolic is turned into a material conversation that fantasy provides.
Y'all just want wiki entries rather than artistic expression, & it's making fantasy worse.
Virtually every social media site scrapes data now, so it feels very pointless to try anything new in the hopes I feel like posting art publicly again. Still gonna draw it, but maybe just for servers with pals. Eh.
>Go up to see technical marvel
>Ask if itโs real or mechanical Turk
>ceo laughs and goes โwhatโ
>I explain
>โitโs a good invention sirโ
>go to see it
>itโs mechanical Turk
On a real prog album kick at the moment. A weary knight has to solve a riddle set by the personification of space-time, Prince By-Tor is there for some reason, that kind of thing. Top stuff.
The family pictured here had to sell up less than a decade later as interest rates spiked their mortgage costs, leading to a divorce. The woman pictured eneded up living in sheltered accomodation.
