After 11 years as a sports columnist at the Seattle Times, I have decided to resign. It was entirely my choice, and it was not an easy one. The impetus was the Times declining to run a column I wrote from the perspective of two female student athletes who were opposed to competing against biological males. It was one of several pieces of mine that had been spiked, and I no longer felt like I could properly do my job as a columnist. I lay out the situation in greater detail in the link below, but I want to say that I enjoyed my time with the paper, find the talent there to be immense, and have no animosity toward anyone who works there. It was just time for a change.

Green Party sickness.
Here are some activists for the Green Party - the ruling party in Hackney - stabbing an effigy of Andy Burnham with a dart in the face and eye.
They did this outside Hackney town hall with Green councillors watching.
They are angry Burnham has affirmed the Supreme Court ruling that you cannot change your biological sex.
Did no one think this was a particularly stupid idea a few days after a former MP was murdered?

🇬🇧 UK lawyer Paul Powlesland cleaned 200 bags of waste from a polluted river.
Fish and dragonflies have returned.
Now he faces up to 2 years in prison for doing it without a permit.
This is modern Britain: punishing people who actually clean up the environment while the bureaucracy strangles common sense.
Absolutely insane.

The Somerset Farmhouse of 1 North Street, Williton were approached by a "food influencer" that wanted to charge them £2,000 for a review.
They put out a video of Sally eating a sausage roll instead 😆.
Lets make Sally and the Somerset Farmhouse famous for free.
Jeremy Jacobs, a former chief executive of United Synagogue, said he is moving to Israel after “losing faith in British society”.
In a letter to The Telegraph, Jacobs said he no longer feels confident that Jews would be protected if attacked in public, and that Britain is “no longer the country it was,” after his family first arrived in the 1850s.
This isn’t about Jews, it’s about a democracy, like several others in the West, which are increasingly losing their ability to tolerate differences. That are othering communities. And if it happens, they will not survive.
“The men began to chase him and, shouting abuse at him in Arabic, they dragged him across the road after catching him, tore his clothes, and stole one of his shoes. They asked him “Are you Jewish?”.”
It was great to attend the big protest on Whitehall against anti-Jewish hate and racism. It was attended by many British Jews but also many many British friends and supporters who are alarmed as we are by the darkening horizon here. The Chief Rabbi spoke very well. The biggest and warmest cheers were when
@KemiBadenoch took the stage and her unvarnished passionate support for British Jews and against extremism racism calumnies and violence that the community faces. She really has shown great leadership and courage here.
Thanks to other speakers from Labour, Liberal Democrats and Reform.
Thanks for everyone who came especially non Jewish friends: you are so appreciated.
Modern Britain in a nutshell as a lanyarded crony tries to talk down a long term public servant who’s trying to say goodbye with dignity and then scrolls through her phone when he does so.
Many members of the Government have been forced to apologise for their part in covering up corruption.
I gave Boris Johnson another chance to apologise today.
He refused.
He's a coward, not a leader.

A group of NIMBYs have courageously grouped together to try and block the development of...
...a cancer hospital.
The UK's cancer survival rates are up to 25 years behind other European countries.
Is this acceptable?
If you don't know about Gisele Pelicot, please look her up. She was raped by her husband and 50 of his pals. She's out here changing the world and the narrative for all of us. They should feel shame, not the women who were raped. Thank you, Gisele. I love you. #GiselePelicot
We’re devastated to say that our planned heritage journeys along the Piccadilly line tomorrow have been cancelled due to vandalism to our beautifully restored 1938 Tube stock train. If you had tickets to join us, we've contacted you directly via the email address used to book.
I feel rough, I have a cold. I want to sleep. But - this has appeared and now I am both poorly and angry! https://t.co/RIFaHwrrlw - available to be bought in the uk. @FerberPainting what are you thinking?
If the NYT was any good they could:
a) tell their readers interesting things about how politics and populism has found different expressions in 2 countries
b) give an intelligent outsider's view of the UK which made us reflect
Instead it pursues a ridiculous anti-British vendetta
