Kids had fun today in #WNScience Club with some low melting point gallium metal. We made little spoons, too, just don't stir your tea with it! #YourCommunitySchools
I accepted the challenge from @rachelleterada to post covers of 7 books I LOVE: no explanations, no review - Each time I post a cover, I’ll ask someone to take up the challenge. 1 cover a day for a week. My Day 1 nomination goes to @AlexiaEllett
If a student turns something in late, it doesn’t mean the student knows the content less.
Similarly, just because a student turned it in on time, doesn’t mean the student knows the content more.
Grade learning, not behaviors.
@HeimburgerKyle Sidewalks and brick are laid in sand. The bricks around the tree were laid in dirt put there for the tree. Sand has a higher specific heat capacity than the dirt, thus is slower to change temperature and keeps the pavement above it slightly above freezing longer. #ScienceExplains
Just out today - my Educational Administration Quarterly piece on collective leadership in three great high schools that was four years in the making - good work going on in urban, suburban, and rural schools #collectiveleadership https://t.co/bX0bTNf0As
@JimPa23@rickwormeli2 Long term, I'd love to get to the place where I've simplified CB's standards to usable targets that can be revisited multiple times throughout the year that would accurately represent student understanding of chemistry. Only my second year in #APChem
@JimPa23@rickwormeli2 Out of practicality, I find myself sticking to specific skills or concepts, giving a rating for understanding the core concepts of a lab, for example. There are too many LTs from the college board to assess on them frequently to show tends over time.
