a trip to dubai completely altered the course of my life.
february last year i quit the job i really wanted. design lead at a category defining fintech. decent pay, work life balance, mentors, the whole thing.
three things, in sequence, broke it.
one. made a trip to dubai with the gang and came back with a massive reality hit. as shallow as the place might seem, it showed me how small i was playing, just because small felt safe.
two. every night i'd come home to a living room where darshil and shreyans were visioning how marketers would work in the next 10 years and harish was fafoing with consumer ai. i'd look forward to going home just to talk about how mcp was gonna change the world, deepseek coming out of nowhere, agents starting to actually work.
three. one random weekend harish, samesh and i entered a consumer ai hackathon by peak xv. and we won $5,000!! f-ing crazyy. we built a personal trainer that could correct your posture in real time while you worked out, count your reps, all of it. that night each of us, were up doing 300+ pushups and squats to test it. craziest 36 hours of my life.
that was the one that did it.
the monday after, i quit. no plan, no domain, no idea if i'd build an ai companion or a soyabean farm.
