Why is the Elijah/Elisha mentor/mentee relationship used more often as an example than Jesus/Peter one? Well, the former is more agreeable to religious oppressors. A prophet who obviously was told by God to go anoint his successor subjects the mentee to all sorts of nonsensical hurdles for something God had already approved. Whereas Jesus led with godly patience and nurturing love even when His mentee had betrayed Him. Religion hates that, talmbout Gilgal and Bethel to make oppression sound cool.
