My desire to know the Yes's and No's of education. The How's and Why's don't hurt either. AMDSB Trustee. Views are my own. Retweets do not mean endorsement.
Yes to this. Conversations about de-implementation are just as important as conversations regarding improvement and progress. What can we let go of? How do we know? A hard look about what's on the plate and why is always valuable.
Tonight we honour 8 Difference Makers from across the province. These people are selected from their local OPC associations. Congratulations to Robyn Carnochan (@yourschools), Brent Coakwell (@HaltonDSB), Nazneen Dindar (@DDSBSchools), Simone Gravesande (@PeelSchools)

Most Ontarians don't want sprawl-inducing, gridlock-creating mega-Highways built in the Greenbelt and its wetlands. It seems that @fordnation may be thinking about someone else's interests? #HandsOffTheGreenbelt#StoptheBradfordByPass
Jason Kenney resigned yesterday. In his letter, he bemoaned the denigration of parliamentary institutions and political civility, pinning the blame on "the left" and "the far right". It was a sadly ironic way to end his stint in Alberta politics. +
NEW: Ford government's health spending is $859 million less than expected in first half of 2022-23, according to Ontario's budget watchdog. "That underspending is what actually created the crisis we have in our ERs today," says Liberal finance critic @stephaniebowman. #onpoli
The Sovereignty Act allows the Premier & Cabinet to change laws behind closed doors, without going through the Legislature.
This is fundamentally undemocratic.
And every single UCP MLA just voted in favour of it.

Bill 23 More Homes Built Faster Act is now law and staff estimates that this could cost Vaughan residents a 77-88% increase on their property taxes to recover the money that the developers now get to keep for every unit they build - this is so outrageous and unfair @TorontoStar
Today, @OPSBA and @NikNanos Research released new polling data regarding several public education issues ranging from mental health and well-being, to curriculum, funding, and governance. https://t.co/XSsPQwgLxr #OPSBAadvocacy 1/x
Welcome to Ontario's new school board trustees, and welcome back to our returning members! Today is the first day of the 2022-2026 term and we look forward to working with you to support public education throughout the next four years.
@munakadri Can you provide details of what was said. Yes, boards want students in class but at the expense of the collective bargaining, not sure about that. It does not run align from what I here from other trustees.
On a Friday afternoon, in midst of school chaos (of their own making), the Ford Conservatives drop this doozy:
they’re giving chunks of the Greenbelt away to developers
Nothing to see here folks 👀
The view that healthcare and education privatization will solve our problems is only held by those who think they’ll profit and those who think they’ll be able afford it.
Most will be wrong.
I join all Ontarians and Canadians in mourning the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. There never will be another like her in our lifetime. My thoughts and prayers are with King Charles III & her entire family who lost a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother today.
So here it is. Vulnerable seniors & their families will face financial coercion if they refuse to consent to move to whatever LTC home is forced upon them.... no matter where it is, or what their needs are. #onpoli
