As fun as it would be to pile on Kevin McCarthy for being so thirsty for power that he bent the knee to the delusional extremists in his own party and stupidly thought that same group wouldn't eventually pile drive him into political ruin, it's just the latest example that Republicans prefer chaos and dysfunction to actual governance. Unfortunately we're the ones who ultimately pay for this unabashed stupidity.
@nhannahjones In Oakland, OPD spends more than half their time on non-criminal calls. It took forever to get the data and we now see how they spend their time. 👀

This is a systemic failure - all violence is state violence. Read our full statement:
@SF_Contrarian@SimonYoung76@sfstandard you mean fundraise for a severely mentally ill person that the state wouldn’t provide any care or housing for so we put him up in hotel rooms and provided advocacy for to get the proper care and treatment so he’s not on the street? Killing is wrong. Killing the poor is wrong. Killing the mentally ill is wrong. Why is that so hard to say?

The silence from landlord orgs may be that the real issue for them is the substantial damage issue, which they currently have won. Bas/Kalb's original amendments, the ones tenant groups want back, would make it harder to evict tenants on bs. Obviously, landlords want that option.
