@CatherineJCMcK the argument isn't that they have too much empathy it's that the word "empathy" in political contexts is dishonest rhetoric. he's not arguing that you shouldn't care about others.
"But I say to you who are listening: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who abuse you" Luke 6:27-28
@Teunemansvb@catholichiara@FloridaMan7745 if you allow sin to fester it will eat away at you until nothing else is left but sin. this person looked in the face of innocent children, saw the image of God, and judged it unworthy of existence. superbia manifest.
@Bad_AI_@OGKidSSBM People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.
There is no Jew nor Greek, no slave nor free, no male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself.
@stacycay@envisionedluna if you discourage trans catholics from participating in their church that will never change. the left wing impulse to constantly abolish institutions and start fresh is bad. if we don't allow for reconciliation of sins we are missing the point.
@allie0t the catholic church is the largest charitable organization, healthcare provider and educational institution on earth and is wildly progressive on like every issue except sexual morality. throwing your hands up and ceding the church to homophobes is objectively bad for humanity.
@BungeeGum_4 @Nataliegirli3 @catholichiara@agpcel being trans is not imperfection, mistreating trans people is. and we should embrace the church anyway so that all catholics may grow in love and grace. to sin is to move further from god. allow your transness to bring you closer to god so that virtue can be known by its fruits.
@Nataliegirli3 @catholichiara@agpcel christ loves you as you are. he does not demand perfection before embracing and loving you. the most moral thing we can do is extend the same grace to his church. love is medicine not reward. how can she heal without us?
@theAmanda_Jules@jackiedotnet so you think that the only way for marginalized people to truly be free is to throw their culture and religion away and instead follow your ideals because your cultural values are inherently superior? and this is anti-colonialism? ๐คจ
@jaycansea@michelle_byoung the catholic church is anti racist, pro immigration, pro universal healthcare, pro environmentalism, supports wealth redistribution policies, opposes the death penalty, runs 26% of the worlds healthcare facilities, is the single largest non-state educational provider on earth
@LiberianGod@ShibaIn47687957@GodfreyGGleeks is the west re instated slavery and said that you shouldn't be allowed to dictate how they run their countries, you would rightly call them evil.
@Biblesonson @Catholic_bro death and resurrection, purification period leading to a spring renewal feast, wine and bread as ritual feast, blood meaning life, a tau being a protection symbol.
these are all present in judaism as well, why would you reach so hard to cybele/attis when judaism is right there?
@LeadenPall@asaadghani@ProtecttheFaith large centralized empire allows for standardized intellectual infrastructure which massively increases the speed of information transfer. the texts were never "lost" they were just less widely available in the latin west after the empire fell. byzantines didn't have this issue.
@camilo_spinel@Faithful2Pray@SecretFire79 @rankheresy ozzy was baptized catholic, so isn't this rejection of the infallible doctrine of baptismal indelibility per the council of trent?
doesn't this place you outside the church by your own strict definition?
@dumbahey@wfenza@captgouda24 far more die in israeli attacks on gaza than die in hamas attacks on israel. the point is that there exists some threshold upon which we accept harm because the cost of preventing it is too high. he is arguing that israel has passed that threshold.
@wfenza@captgouda24 all modern societies do this. killing everyone with an IQ below 90 would lower the violent crime rate. it is an evil thing to do though. so we would rather just accept that violent crime is going to happen than kill those people.
@captgouda24 premise 1 of your argument is basically that genocide would prevent attacks on israel. premise 2 is that genocide is unfathomably evil. nobody is reading past premise 1 because it boils their blood.
