people criticizing this move are similar to the ones who thought epic games and fortnite br would be a flop. i remember the hate against that game, even elon jumped in the hate bandwagon. Now it's one of the most popular video games with great retention rates.
We have a huge pivot underway here at Epic, moving developers around to retool for maximum AI acceleration.
The aim isn't to do the same stuff with fewer people, but to enable everyone here to build MORE and BETTER stuff, and to bring the benefits to all teams using Unreal.
I agree India has a rank fetish. Growing up in my 11th, 12th I was building cool things in computers and I used to feel so disconnected with everyone who was around me. Everybody was in a race but nobody knew shit. Kids were brainwashed to kill their curiosity, stop asking questions that were out of syllabus and prepare for JEE. As a 17 year old I tried my best to understand how is my knowledge in PCM the criteria for me to be a Good Software. Only reasonable explanation was they are testing the discipline and ability to push, but my 17 year intuition was discipline should not be forced. Its a byproduct of curiosity. You are soo deeply interested in something that anyone with forced discipline can never even come close to you. My parents used to think I have gone insane when I was fully focussed I would not eat, sleep or even know if the world is burning around me. Just me, my focus and good music. This was not rewarded and was mostly seen as a sign of distraction. Everybody who have achieved nothing more than a degree and a bare minimum job that they hate going to, used to teach me how Life is all sorted once you get a good rank at JEE and you will be doing coding your whole life anyways (For them it was work that they hated). Its been 9 years of “coding” or tinkering with systems now and everyday there is something new I learn and there was never a day I thought its work or its boring. So when you see a 14, 15, 16 year kid doing things out of curiosity give them validation. People like us took a bet on our intuition that what we were doing is right while fighting the local shitty society around us.
india keeps rewarding mugging up PCM and then wonders where the hackers went.
JEE is not computer science. GATE is not cybersecurity. rank is not competence.
our examination fetish is killing technical talent:

Quite an important take. Economists and their theories are outdated to measure the benefits of AI. AI is already saving people a lot of time and money that doesn’t get measured.
We’re sharing a solution to the Navier-Stokes Millennium Prize Problem, one of the deepest problems at the frontier of mathematics.
The proof was produced by a group of agents, using an OpenAI next-generation model significantly more capable than GPT-6 Astra.
The problem concerns whether the description of smooth three-dimensional fluid motion modeled by the Navier-Stokes equations can break down. It has remained unresolved for roughly 90 years.
Episode out with @ajeya_cotra, one of the authors of the METR/Redwood investigation into the OpenAI / Hugging Face attack.
We go through not only what happened, but what it means for how we should train future, smarter AIs which might be involved in the process of recursive self-improvement.

its so funny that the decades long tyranny of hardware companies making their proprietary drivers and firmware was ended basically overnight by chatbots who can crawl in and play with the guts of everything with a SOC in it
We secretly set up the accounts, but we got found out anyway.. 😆 But since you're here! We'll be having a campaign real soon! So join our community and get updates!
P.s. I'm really excited about the campaign so please share it with your creator friends and fans! ❤️
