I discovered something dangerous last year (2024), and changing it in 2025 saved me.

I realized I was letting "Corporate Molding" take over.

When you are starting out in your mid-20s, the system piles the work on you. I fell into the trap of letting the job become my entire personality. I would wake up, work, complain about work, sleep, and repeat.

My mood was 100% dictated by how my day went at the office.

In 2025, I flipped the script. I started actively fighting for my life outside the building.

I stopped seeing my personal life dating, hanging out, exploring the city as a "distraction." I started seeing it as the priority.

Here is the crazy part: It made me better at the job.

When you have a life you love waiting for you at home, workplace toxicity can’t touch you the same way.
A bad meeting doesn't ruin your week anymore because your identity isn't tied to it.

You develop a thick skin that only comes from having options and happiness elsewhere.

I’ve tested this switch for a whole year now, and it is trusted.

Don’t let corporate turn you into a robot.
By all means crush the work, but keep your soul for yourself. The job will always be there but your youth won’t.

Maybe we should be careful how we use the words “your feelings are valid”. Cos na mad tins many people dey feel now. Not all feelings are valid abeg. At some point, you have to learn to scrutinise your feelings and subject them to logic, abeg. No be every feeling make sense.
