The most terrible thing in this video is, the students of #PolyU are using their bodies to resist, throwing back the canisters in the tear gas rain.
Their president is absent and stay quiet, #HongKong gov’t officials do nothing but let the police kill ‘em
Are PLA deployed in Hong Kong?
They don't have any authority to act in Hong Kong unless Article 14 of the Basic Law is invoked.
This is an unconstitutional move and another blatant disregard for the rule of law.

Art 14 of Basic Law shows PLA has no power to "voluntarily" help to clear roadblocks set by protesters. It'll not violate the BL only if HK Gov takes the initiative to ask PLA to do so.
If so, it'll be a grave precedent that HK Gov may invite PLA to deal with internal problems.
The Hong Kong protests began in June with one main objective — for the government to withdraw a controversial bill that would have allowed extradition of fugitives to mainland China.
Here's what you need to know about the demonstrations. https://t.co/Vft14vYDMh
Hong Kong’s white-collar workers join the ranks of protesters — Driven by anger at the authorities’ response to massive protests, and guilt that the burden of defending democracy has fallen on the city’s youth, a white-collar rebellion is rippling out

“This is one of those moments where Britain actually has a responsibility… to defend an agreement between two nations,” says @TomTugendhat on the Hong Kong protests.
He adds “there is no foreign interference”. This is just about protecting the joint declaration

[BREAKING] People's Liberation Army was deployed to clear roadblocks outside HKBU. It's the first time PLA directly involves in HK political event. We must stay cautious that it may be China's salami tactics that China starts using PLA to intervene in HK affairs more directly.
Beijing’s soldiers in Hong Kong made a rare appearance on the city’s streets to clear protesters’ roadblocks, raising questions about the army’s future role there https://t.co/lxESgEF3wj
Perspective | China thinks it can defeat Hong Kong’s protesters. It can’t. https://t.co/kTuiK2IyFI
Excellent analysis of Hong Kong & its low-level, urban war of attrition by @keithrichburg , a man who knows a thing or two about people power movements in Asia
This is the first poll we have since "Siege of #CUHK". The result is similar to other polls in the last couple of months. Over 80% saying its the gov fault; and around 40% saying it's the protesters' fault. #StandwithHK
The hunger for human freedom always prevails, as it did with the fall of the Berlin Wall & the end of apartheid in South Africa. This same hunger is unfolding today in places like Iran, Venezuela, & Hong Kong. Those who long for freedom will triumph.
Our #HongKong democracy bill is currently being run through the Senate “hotline”,an expedited process to pass a bill by unanimous consent.
If we can clear it on both sides of the aisle the bill could pass as early as this upcoming week.

I applaud the Administration for keeping all options open to stand with #HongKong. We must remain vigilant to fight Communist China’s human rights abuses.
In Congress, I continue to urge my colleagues to pass the Hong Kong Human Rights & Democracy Act as quickly as possible.
