Just a year ago, I was reading these words from the Kozhnitzer Maggid, as many do on Simchas Torah. I began composing a tune, but put it aside. This year, as the news slowly broke out of EY, we were once again reading this piyut in shul, & it struck me in a totally different way.

Amidst all the darkness, I found a glimmer of hope in these promises. The joy of the guela is beyond our imagination. May it arrive swiftly!

It was Shabbos, Erev Pesach, years ago that this song came to me. Remembering the song for 3 days (!!) without being able to record it was quite the challenge! W tremendous siyata dishmaya, we came out of Yom Tov w a brand new song, & I’m so grateful to still be singing it today.
