Kungas, a mix of female donkeys and male Syrian asses, expensive animals that were bred 4,500 years ago in Mesopotamia, at least 500 years before horses were bred for the purpose, a new study reveals.

Cuneiform terracotta tablets, ca. 1400 BC, Qatna, Syria. 63 cuneiform tablets were discovered in 2002, in a subterranean corridor. They were covered by the burned remains of several roofbeams. Maybe they were hidden during the Hittite invasion.
