A young security officer from Idlib stands in the rain surrounded by sectarian chants from Alawite but not once does he raise his weapon, retaliate, or abuse his position. He simply stands there for two hours protecting the very people insulting him.

Back in 2018, This very officer once stood as a child in Idlib protest holding a revolutionary placard that reads:

“To the loyalists: Assad will fall, and your children will taste freedom just like ours.
And one day, you will thank us for that.”

في الأيام الماضية، شهدت السويداء اشتباكات عنيفة بين مجموعات مسلحة من داخل المحافظة وأخرى من مناطق
البدو المجاورة، أسفرت عن سقوط العديد من الضحايا من المدنيين. رغم محاولات الدولة للتهدئة، تعرضت قوات الأمن لهجمات وعمليات خطف، في استمرار لمحاولات العبث وجر البلاد إلى فتن لا تخدم أحداً.

دعوات الحكومة لوقف العنف وتسليم الأسلحة غير الشرعية (خاصة المتوسط والثقيل) لم تتوقف، وبدلاً عن ذلك تم الرد بقتل الآمنين ودعوات التدخل الخارجي واحتلال المزيد من الأراضي.

الرهان اليوم يتوقف على وعي أبناء السويداء واهتمامهم العميق بالحفاظ على السلم الأهلي، إلى جانب الدور الأساسي الذي ستضطلع به الدولة السورية في استعادة الأمن، وتفعيل المؤسسات، وتعزيز سلطة القانون في جميع أنحاء سوريا، بما يضمن كرامة المواطن السوري ويحفظ وحدة الوطن.

Syrians in Syria: Putting out constant fires, attempting to unify the country, mapping and rebuilding an entire ecosystem and infrastructure for a whole country that was destroyed by a single genocidal family - whilst simultaneously dealing with nationwide pain, grief and trauma, piecing fragile trust between communities after 60 years of weaponised injustice and sectarianism under an authoritarian dictatorship.

Non-Syrians online who can't just leave us alone: Syria is CIA asset, sold the country, lifting sanctions means they're becoming westernised, mourning genocidal dictator who murdered a million Syrians but at least he did it in the name of 'resistance'.
