Beirut , 1982.
The pride in his voice tells you everything you need to know about how the people of Lebanon feel about their resistance.

The supply chain for the exploding devices in Lebanon is looking more and more like the one for the Ammonium Nitrate that exploded in Beirut port 4 years ago: opaque shell companies all along. Israel's signature on the Beirut port explosion is becoming clearer. 1/

“They’re targeting journalists. These people represent a portal for hope for Gaza. They deliver their voices around the world. And targeting them is basically killing hope.”

🧵- The assassination of journalism
Journalists in Gaza are prime targets for the Israeli military. In the last 75 days:
95 (out of 1200) killed, 80 assassinated for being journalists; a majority killed at home, including all 10 female journalists. #JournalismUnderAttack

A massacre in Jenin.
In the last hours, the Israeli Occupation Forces have killed 9 Palestinians and wounded dozens in ground raids and arial strikes on the densely populated Jenin Refugee Camp.
This is $3.8 billion of US taxpayer money at play.
Much of the debt accrued by countries in the Global South has its origins in colonialism.
The first President of Burkina Faso, Thomas Sankara, called debt neocolonial at the Organization of African Unity in 1987.
(A few months later, he was murdered in a coup backed by France)
Narratives about the debt crisis in Global South countries typically present it as a technical issue or the fault of “corrupt” or “incompetent” governments.
This intentionally erases colonialism in creating Global South debt, & how it is utilised as a form of neo-colonialism.
It's been a long and painful year since my aunt, Palestinian American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, was shot and killed by an Israeli soldier. My family and I are heartbroken but we are steadfast in our calls for accountability and #JusticeForShireen. Our family statement:
Israeli airstrikes on the besieged Gaza Strip tonight. At least ten Palestinians reportedly killed. Horrific onslaught launched by Benjamin Netanyahu's government.
