I love to dance, teach, and perform. I perform out at Ren Fest when I can. I am pretty much one of the biggest goof balls out there. non-binary, disabled, AuDHD
It is not easy to qualify for disability benefits.
The process can take years, is exhausting and dehumanizing.
It’s designed to make people give up and/or die before there’s a payout.
This is why disabled people say they don’t owe you an explanation.
People think disability is something you can “try harder” your way out of
They think it’ll never happen to them, or if it does they will overcome
They refuse to listen to disabled voices
They refuse to help build better safety nets
It’s a minority group you can join anytime
Dear disabled people,
Your existence is worth so much. Yes, even if you don’t work. Even if you can’t do chores. Even if you can’t go out. Even if you can’t do people favors. You are not the equivalency of what you can do. You are so much more.
Any chance anyone can help me get in touch with these kids or families? First off I want to make sure they’re doing ok. But would love to help them out any way I can and get them some stuff from the team to help with the recovery.
@lottieblix@bibicosplays Sorry you experienced this too. It feels like such a common thing for all of us. I know my experience is similar. This even happens to kids(did for me). I'm now really paying for pushing myself way too far every time and pretending I wasn't disabled.
@bibicosplays So sorry you dealt with this. It's a tough thing to deal with and learn. It hurts every time, especially when it's from those who are close to you(friends, family, loved ones).
@danorlovsky7 Don't forget Sneed, Tranquil, Jones, Delay, Duffie, Omenihu, and others too. They definitely deserve props too and it seems they get looked over a bit.
@Imani_Barbarin The Ugly Laws truly need to be taught and talked about in schools, as well as other disabled history. A lot of my friends weren't aware that the ADA only came about in 1991 and had thought this always existed. Disabled history is American history. We've influenced a lot.
@frankmikesmith This one haunted us for a long time and felt like we were cursed. Andy Reid and Mahomes lifted that curse. A lot of fans still won't speak or mention this guy's name.
@RealMNchiefsfan They are starting to include Travis Kelce in this now. I saw someone reporting their sources claim he's going to this offseason... it feels like they all keep trying to be "first" even if wrong. This started with Brady and that false report.
@makeupartist524 I'm so sorry to hear. My heart goes out to her. I've been fearful of this lately(mom and I were in the hospital a couple months ago and they act like it's over here). This recent surge has been bad.
@DragonflyJonez Exactly. I feel his frustration. This feels par for the course. It always feels like they talk about and praise the other guys even when the Chiefs and Mahomes win.
