#Sudan | The same international actors that rushed yesterday to condemn the atrocities against civilians in #ElFasher are the very ones that remained silent for over two years while the city endured hunger, killings, and mass displacement. They even obstructed Sudanese diplomatic efforts to hold the Janjaweed militia and its regional backer accountable those responsible for prolonging the war and the project of extermination.
As for justice and humanity, they’ve become hollow slogans that major powers invoke when it serves their interests, while turning a blind eye when it concerns nations without influence or leverage.
Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura says the Sudan conflict has regional and international players involved. He notes that Egypt and Iran are seen to support the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), while the United Arab Emirates backs the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), mainly due to strategic interests in Nile water, farming, and access to the Red Sea.
