Sepp Blatter made sure Africa got to host the World Cup when it was all impossible at the time, he can be accused of all the corruption in the world, but to me, that man did wonders for football. This bald Swiss/Italian man is something else.
Gianni Infantino has further diminished the reputation of an organisation that had already become a byword for sleaze under his predecessor Sepp Blatter. He should resign.
The Telegraph says Gianni Infantino must go. Read the full Telegraph View ⤵️

In 2017, Gianni Infantino was under investigation by FIFA’s ethics committee for more than one separate alleged instance of malpractice when he organised the sudden removal of the body’s chairmen and members, who were blindsided.
Working on “hundreds of cases” of potential FIFA‑related malpractice at the time, they argued their removal “incapacitated” and “neutralised” the integrity of the independent reform process.
Infantino denounced it all as “fake news”… Sound familiar?
But yes, he ‘always respects the decisions and the autonomy of the bodies that make them’
And hydration breaks are about solely about player welfare.
There is definitely no favourable leaning towards superstar players and some nations.
And zero interest in enhancing his own power, ego and brand.
Just a reminder that shortly after being appointed president in 2017 that Infantino was instrumental in a major FIFA overhaul that ousted the two independent co-chairmen of the Ethics Committee, Cornel Borbély and Hans-Joachim Eckert. At the time, the committee was actively investigating… Infantino
FIFA President Gianni Infantino:
“I have seen the public comments regarding the decision of the independent FIFA Disciplinary Committee related to the suspension of Folarin Balogun, and I would like to reiterate a fundamental principle of FIFA’s governance.
“FIFA’s judicial bodies are independent. They operate autonomously, apply the FIFA Disciplinary Code, and decide cases based on the applicable regulations and the specific facts before them. Their independence is essential to the credibility and integrity of football, and this must always be respected.
“Yes, I regularly discuss matters related to the FIFA World Cup with the President of the United States, and on this matter, I did receive a call from President Donald Trump, just as I receive calls from heads of state, government officials, football stakeholders and business executives from around the world on many different issues. During our conversation, I explained that there was an ongoing legal process involving FIFA’s independent judicial bodies and that the case would be decided in due course by the competent bodies. That is how FIFA’s system works, and it is a principle that I will always uphold.
“I read the decisions of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee when they are issued. Sometimes I am surprised by them. Sometimes I agree with them, and sometimes I disagree.
“What I always do, however, is respect those decisions and the autonomy of the bodies that make them. Whether we personally like a decision or not is irrelevant. Respect for independent institutions and the rule of law is what protects the integrity of our competitions and the credibility of FIFA at all times.”
Red cards are not overturned by political phone calls. They are overturned by rules, evidence and independent bodies. If a U.S. President intervenes with the FIFA President — and a player is suddenly cleared before a World Cup knockout match — the question is unavoidable: Quo vadis, FIFA?
Football must never become a playground for political power. #FIFA #WorldCup #GianniInfantino #DonaldTrump

Letting the USA host a World Cup was the worst thing possible.
This is the biggest sporting event which is meant to bring the world together. Instead this has been nothing but corruption, visa issues, travelling restrictions and injustice for certain countries.
Bélgica tendría que apelar ante el TAS, de manera que si Balogun juega, Estados Unidos se arriesgaría a perder el partido por default. Recordemos que el TAS es independiente de la FIFA.
FIFA's own rules dictate that if a government tries to intervene in a disciplinary matter - that team is disqualified. Not happening to the USA though, despite trump making that phone call. Wonder why. 🤔
Fuck Trump. Fuck Infantino.
Belgium, you need to save football
Just refuse to play
FIFA will lose millions of dollars. Broadcaster and sponsors will be furious
And that is all that counts to them
