I did my house job in a secondary centre and one thing my registrar always told us "the unbooked patient in labour, is that patient sent by your village people to come after your license" and till date the warning he gave us is till very loud in my ears, never do a VE for an unbooked patient in labour without a recent scan.

If you don't come with a recent scan at 36 weeks and above, he will refer you to a teaching hospital where they have blood bank and emergency theatre.

Inside Nigerian hospitals, they're apparently incompetent paracetamol vendors you wouldn't touch with a six-foot pole. At the airport, they suddenly become highly valuable state property whose education was "subsidised" & whose movement must be controlled, even if it means chaining them to an oxygen cylinder for 5 yrs of indentured work.

So it's not even hatred per se, it's ownership. People want doctors always available, trapped, grateful & silent.
