Former neo-Nazi, a student of Kabbalah for over 17 years and an orthodox convert to Judaism, he now shares his story with others in hopes of inspiring them.
@xai In projects, if even a single personal file is invalid, the entire project becomes unable to process any requests.
For example, I accidentally uploaded a file named abc.paint instead of abc.png. Requests failed until I deleted the invalid file, after which everything started working again.
I kept trying and got this response from grok: The Grok Imagine API's image_url is designed primarily for editing or transforming the provided image itself (true img2img), like applying a new artistic style to the existing content/composition.
From the official docs, all examples use prompts that explicitly reference transforming the source image (e.g., "Render this image as an oil painting..." or "Redraw this in pop art style").
When the prompt describes a completely new scene (unrelated subject/composition), the style conditioning from image_url becomes much weakerโthe text prompt takes over, and it often defaults to photorealism.
That's why pure/minimal prompts (or scene-only) ignore the reference style in API calls, even with base64.
In chat Imagine, the uploaded reference gets stronger automatic conditioning for new scenes (internal magic the API doesn't fully replicate yet).
Hi @xai / Grok team! ๐
Love the Imagine API, but image_url style conditioning feels unreliable compared to chat:
In chat: Uploaded references lock in perfectly every time.
In API: Often ignores the reference style (goes photorealistic), even with clear cues like "exact style of the reference."
Hard to get consistent series for things like video frames.
Example:
JSON
{
"prompt": "Exact style of the reference image.\nScene: [description]",
"image_url": "[public url]",
"n": 2
}
Any tips or plans to strengthen it? Thanks so much! ๐
Hey @xai , quick feature request for voice mode:
When I say "suggest a solution" (or similar), just quietly write it outโdonโt read it aloud. That way I can glance at it during a meeting without everyone hearing the whole script or code dump. Then we keep chatting like normal.
Thanksโwould save me so much awkward silence!

Your vision for ๐ as truth by the people resonates deeply. I transformed from neo-Nazi to Jew through Kabbalahโs wisdom. On Lag BaOmer, Iโm sharing the Nano Zohar, nanotech pendants protecting Israeli soldiers (https://t.co/qj3mMnyTBD). Can you amplify this light? #LagBaOmer
We want to share the Zohar for free throughtout Israel to families of the hostages and other people.
Our goal is to raise 500.000 NIS.

When we turn on light in a dark room, we can see.
The same applies when we reveal spiritual light: our limited view of our ego disappears, and we can see.
As we enter Chanukah, it is very easy to reveal light in the world, and to see beyond any limitation.
We can change, and if we change, we change the world.
Happy Chanukah from Israel ๐ฎ๐ฑ
