Absolutely true. And in Israel and the Jewish world in general, almost everyone is aware that these dishes are generally Mediterranean foods and there are disputes even within the Arab world regarding the origin of each dish ... we Israelis accept that there is no Israeli food that was not brought to israel by Jews from Arab countries and European countries so basically there is no "authentic israeli" dishes rather a mix of middle east and east Europe cuisine...
However when we talk about authentic Jewish food, we absolutely have a lot of dishes that are "Jewish food proper" like gefiltefish and gale matzo brei and cholent, which come from Ashkenazi Jewish cuisine, and dishes like jahanun and khreima, which are dishes from Mizrahi Jewish cuisine. No one has any illusions that falafel is authentic Jewish food but those above are 100% Jewish food... 😊
