Saudi produces 10m+ barrels per day and has about 2.5m barrels per day refining capacity from 10 active refineries for only 33m people (as at this yearโs census). It costs Saudi Aramco just $8 to produce a barrel of crude while NNPC spends almost $18 to produce a single barrel.
ARAMCO has been operating as a commercial company independent of Saudi government that is even efficient and less corrupt while NNPC???
So there are so many reasons why Aramco can remit dividends to its shareholders (Saudi Govt) and NNPCL, a newly incorporated company, can not.
NNLG is operating under same arrangement and its working. Buhari-led govt received a total of $5.28billion from NLNG in dividends throughout his 8 years for the 49% shares FG holds in the company through NNPC.
So with proper management and sincere approach, NNPCL too will one day reach there.
