Last week, @ValViewElem and @YorkshireElem hosted playground picnics for incoming kindergarteners. Students were able to eat lunch, play, and meet future classmates! All new kindergartners are invited to the next picnic at noon on July 21, 2022.

Additionally, our deepest condolences to @Uvalde_CISD as its families grapple with the tragedy at Robb Elementary School.

Kayla Torres, a @YorkshireElem student, won an opportunity to be principal for a day. She filled in for Mrs. Albright by reading the announcements, writing emails, assisting at the school's pep rally, conducting an observation, and much more. Thank you, Kayla, for your hard work!

Today was Beach Day for @YorkshireElem students, and even some rain couldn't spoil the fun. Staff prepared beach-themed games, crafts, and food for the event. There was even a boardwalk leading to the snow-cone truck, thanks to Mr. Schraudner!

Mrs. Kauffman, a @YorkshireElem teacher, received the @BrownsOrchards Teacher of the Month Award today! She was nominated by Jonathan Wirick, one of her students. Mary Brown conducted the surprise presentation. Congratulations, Mrs. Kauffman!

Last evening, @YorkshireElem hosted an event called Countdown to Kindergarten. Incoming kindergarten students and their families joined staff for fun activities and a preview of the school. The Class of 2035 definitely looks like a great group!

Mrs. King's second-grade students recently uncovered the classroom beehive with good behavior. They celebrated by eating lunch outside on a beautiful day. These young learners are really demonstrating their knowledge of the Four Bee Rules! 👏🏽

Congratulations to the @YWCAYork early learning programs at both @YorkshireElem and @ValViewElem for receiving 4-star ratings from Keystone STARS! A 4-star rating is the highest designation that can be earned through the Keystone STARS system. What an amazing accomplishment!

Last night's western-themed literacy event hosted by @YorkshireElem was a hit! Activities included cowboy yoga, crafts, games, reading the book Leroy Ninker Saddles Up, and more. It was a great ending to the One Book, One School reading program!

Our second-grade students have started a unit about embryology. Last week, they enjoyed a special presentation in the gym to learn more about the incubation and hatching process. They are now observing the eggs and waiting for the chicks to appear! #YSBOLD

Author Lyndsey Stavely and animals from The Farmyard visited @YorkshireElem today! Ms. Stavely's books are based on animals from The Farmyard, which is an agricultural destination in Maryland. Students loved petting the horse and pony! #YSBOLD
