@Kermit3601 I’ll play with your logic. If Asgore who is a male decided that he was nonbinary then yes he could use whatever pronouns he wants, BUT that would require the EXPLICIT claim of being nonbinary. Kris has never been explicitly stated to be nonbinary, so they’re ambiguous.

1. Nonbinary is an imaginary 3rd option among male and female.

2. Gender ambiguous is when the gender is explicitly hidden from us.

3. They/them can be used as nonbinary pronouns, but are the exclusive pronouns for gender ambiguity.

The only thing you need to take away from here now is that if the character is gender ambiguous (the way Kris and Frisk are) then they will only use they/them.

@Kermit3601 Characters that are explicitly male or female are using male or female pronouns. Kris and Frisk on the other hand have only ever been referred to as they/them and they never imply their gender, so by definition that’s ambiguous.

@Kermit3601 The difference is that nonbinary is an imaginary 3rd choice in between male and female. Whereas gender ambiguous is an umbrella term specifically used for the sake of deliberately not defining their gender. Which is what happens with Kris and Frisk.
