I got fired from my job, but I am still on the team.
Let me explain ๐๐ป
I joined a project as a social media manager 2 months ago. For 2 months, I did my job diligently, posted quality posts, and grew their social media handle steadily. Fast forward to the present, and the founder decided to hire a marketing agency to take care of the entire marketing campaign.
Yes, social media would be handled by the agency as well. So you can well imagine I was in a pinch. ๐
On one side, I was happy that the project was in good hands, but on the other, I was worried about what my role would be in the project going forward. ๐ถ
However, much to my surprise, the founder wanted me to stay on board and act as a generalist on the team. In other words, be prepared to do whatever is thrown at me. [except coding ๐]
So, what is the lesson here?
๐ฅ Your skills are replaceable. But not YOU.
You, as a marketer, collab manager, influencer, community manager, etc., are replaceable. However, only a handful of them can deliver it perfectly on time.
๐ฅ Always overdeliver.
Always try to make your employer feel that what they spend is worth it. So go outside your comfort zone and deliver more than your job requirements. It is always appreciated.
๐ฅ Do not be a YES person.
Founders have enough people around them to say yes to their every decision. He did not hire you to add to the list. Speak about what you think is best for the project. Sometimes it will be accepted, and sometimes it will not be. However, you need to be a professional, not a simp.
So while you hone your craft, always give the quality of your work top priority. What lesson would you like to add to the list?๐ก
