R.I.P.
Jason Collins was a truly excellent player dedicated to box-out. (The type of ancestor who let his teammates catch the Dreb, even if it meant taking fewer record himself.)
His defense and Rebound was big portion of Nets Transition offense.
(Look his box-out on Duncan)

I am not knee deep in NFL nerd circles but it feels like no one is putting JSN up there as a contender for best receiver while his box score production laps everybody this year
@SamHoppen if you’re taking recommendations it would be great to have 3rd & 4th Down Overall EPA per Play & Success Rate on the Matchup Preview sheet. thank you for doing them though I think you have the best preview sheet out
@bballstrategy@CrumpledJumper I agree that + the variability of flight path based on force exerted on the rim from players with a big enough shot history to meet some degree of stabilization from the same place like Luka left wing 3PT stepbacks rebound flight path variability off rim would be a good start for
@JustEsBaraheni Idk if I’ve ever seen a reverse double stagger played like a double flare screen with the way Scottie drifted, although Kon getting caught totally unaware coinciding with this set is prolly the reason more than actually running a double flare for Scottie. looks like a lob set
angles vs Boston’s straight-up PoA technique consistently and that setting (switch defenders who play him straight up vs push/implicitly funnel him to a side) really shows off how steep & direct the downhill angles he can get are and how strong his arms are through contact
Ant’s contact balance through lower body physicality (leg bumps from defender when he is driving downhill or absorbing contact sliding laterally as a man defender especially) seems historically good and it actualizes his similarly great acceleration when moving downhill
today vs the Celtics (whose PoA stances I’m guessing are taught quite well based on their guards iso switch tape) the functional strength of Ant’s legs, the excellence of his ball control relative to acceleration & his trunk flexibility moving downhill is letting him open up..
@bballstrategy Hawks fan in the comments also talk about the DREB tradeoff this (likely) outlier unsustainable performance thus far this season might come with but I don’t know enough about their defensive infrastructure to offer insight I deem worthy sharing on that. But necessary point 2 make
@bballstrategy creation here obviously but this gets at what I meant by his potential as a “off ball self creator”. I’m lower on his skill set here than the top of the league SSS footprint and ability to access similar avenues to scoring/off-ball playmaking impact in halfcourt bc strength tho
