thats a common psyop - status is not zero sum. founders take worse terms from better investors; writers get famous scientists or policy makers as coauthors or to write book foreword; your alma mater matters; and janta hai mera baap koun hai? status of all kinds, can be borrowed, lent, shared, and grown. if you have any - share it with your friends!
A partner at EY India told me yesterday that the total economic activity created by Punjabi music this year will be in excess of INR 10,000 Cr. I found it hard to believe.
He shared that as per one of the reports EY did, the total economic impact of Diljit Dosanjh's 2024 Dil-Luminati India tour was estimated at ₹943 crore, with direct tour revenue at ₹276 crore. This year just Diljit's India + Global economic activity will be in excess of INR 1800 Cr.
That is just one artist. If 20 other artists (Karan Aujla, Jasmin, Sartaj etc) hit even INR 200 Cr per artist, the total for top 20 artists (including Diljit) alone is INR 5000 Cr.
Add to this 50 other names. Then there are 500+ record labels releasing thousands of songs, YouTube revenue, Spotify revenue, film music revenue, royalties from past releases et al. The total economic activity crosses INR 10,000 Cr.
@ponnappa i do agree that they're acting rationally given their LPs. my point is if your structural ceiling is managing low risk capital for conservative family offices then you're running a PE / SMB credit shop. not "venture". nothing wrong with that - stop larping like arthur rock
Capitalism: Here’s a machine that allows 1 worker to produce what previously required 100 workers.
Luddites: But what about the other 99 jobs?
If we listened to people who thought preserving obsolete labor was more important than productivity, we’d still be farming with sticks.
The first step for a Dehati after earning should be escaping dehati mindset, literally or mentally, one step at a time; the day Dehatis outgrow parochial mindsets and vote-bank politics, the country can finally focus on competing with China and US, not Pakistan or Bangladesh
@leavethisbehnd@ArnabBi95927148@MattooShashank No one is asking anyone to overwork bud.
Our GDP per capita is $2750. The world's average is $14,000. All I am saying is people will need to be a tad more productive to grow.
Then again the problem is assuming you want growth.
I think we should cut first time entrepreneurs some slack but ambani and the likes not innovating more and becoming glorified kiranewaalas is something that should always be a topic of public scrutiny
India generated so much solar power between April and June that it had to throw away 8 terawatt-hours of it. That’s enough electricity to run the entire country for 1.5 days.
The problem isn’t production. It’s the grid and storage. Solar floods the system during sunny hours, but India’s infrastructure can’t absorb or store it fast enough, so 11.5 percent of capacity goes unused.
To put 8 TWh in perspective: it could charge every smartphone in India for 1.5 years, keep 100,000 air conditioners running nonstop for six years, or power the Delhi Metro for over seven years.
The takeaway is clear. India’s solar capacity is growing fast, but the next bottleneck is building grids and storage to actually use it.
@leavethisbehnd@ArnabBi95927148@MattooShashank Yeah, cause people don't want to risk their capital on bets that might not pay off and workers that think like you.
You'd prefer that the 35000 cr go to people like you, so that you can make awful and non sensical points on X.
@leavethisbehnd@ArnabBi95927148@MattooShashank Buddy you just want to take from society, your employers, and tax payers.
Try contributing something towards the greater good of India and its future generations.
@anaidasultana There's no need to look at their S-1 filings to figure that out. It is just a matter of when. I'm sitting on a decent chunk of cash for when it happens.
