Wouldn't you feel deeply embarrassed about using a tag like OBC etc. if you're from a moderately well off family and possibly from a lineage with a fair bit of land?
Making indians actively clamor for such tags is like training the country to be as shameless as possible
Every nepo kid mantri be it Dharmendra Pradhan ji or Kiren Rijiju their kids study abroad ! But like cockroaches or mosquitoes young Indian kids, their lives are ruined and the exemplary punishment "Chairperson & Secretary CBSE" is transferred! Not kicked out, Dharmendra Pradhan ji wont be sacked & babus will be gently transferred ! $h¡Th●l€ of governance!
my own personal experience- the evaluation has been strict but fair..
if not for the issues with website and payment, this is actually perfect. you can challenge if something has been missed. my kid did and I'm certain marks will increase by that much.
He's from one of the new private univs
Many of these pvt univs including IIITH/D, ISB, Ashoka, Plaksha, Krea etc. actually have a bunch of IIX alums in the founding team - they wish to fix stuff they felt they missed out on
Guy who started this one is like 42-43 yrs old
Game Theory of Media Metrics: Mainstream Indian media houses operate on cold, hard traffic data. They know exactly who their largest, most desperate digital demographic is: middle-class parents & engineering aspirants.
A 2nd yr BTech student winning local hackathons & earning ₹8 lakh? That is the sweet spot of accessible aspiration. To a parent in a tier-2 town, this is the ultimate dream template for their own child.
To another BTech student, it triggers just enough FOMO to guarantee a click. The media is selling a relatable daydream to maximize ad impressions.
Agnik Misra did everything a smart, sharp, contemporary engineering student is supposed to do. He worked hard, played the system correctly & deserves credit for his hustle.
But its presence on our headline feed is simply a mainstream media house executing a highly calculated, high-margin traffic play, packaging the daily reality of the Indian tech student as a spectacular anomaly to capture the eyeballs of an education-obsessed nation.
@learning_pt No one complained when every big name CBSE school was getting 100% result, and most of them in top 90+ percentage marks. The internal evaluation marks were always a farce.
terrible timing to roll out this OSM system; criminal levels of incompetence
because they have actually made a serious attempt to crack down on the egregious levels of grade inflation which existed for 1.5 decades
messing up technical stuff will discredit this (valid) effort
it's not that
if u run something non-virtual or control a corp/business bank account
better not announce it to the world lest the baboo(n)s run after u & down your shutters for the cardinal sin of underpaying tax by Rs 27 in 2014

I think India and Indians have completely given up on manufacturing, if teeter is a barometer. All the innovation, entrepreneurship tweets here pertain to IT. I don't see any on producing new things. I am not saying it is wrong but it is what it is.

Donno what channel they used for admissions in the past
But now even this is linked to JEE prelims
What channels are there for those who don't want to go this route in 11-12
Earlier, many ok places considered 12th scores
Putting a lot of eggs in a handful of very large baskets is extremely risky
There was no need to have a single school exam board with 25k schools
NEET captures the entire country's MBBS entrance process
JEE now has way too many colleges linked to the process
Hate gym boys as much as you want, but a good physique is perhaps the most visible yet subtle expression of a person’s discipline and sense of purpose.
@realitycheckind Even more woke is they scrapped the old provision to change majors after the first 2-3 semesters (based on grades)
Saying that it makes things too competitive and stressful
