Remember how there was tons of footage and evidence of officers & others inside on 1/6 supporting insurrectionists, but then everyone decided it was too politically risky to investigate thoroughly so they brushed under the rug and now we still have no idea who or what is safe?
.@aoc tells me she's never felt safe in the Capitol, citing reports of police and members of Congress working with insurrectionists on January 6th. Here's the video:
Man at bus stop to me a wheelchair user: “Don’t you think it would be better if we had separate transportation for people like you?”
Me: “No. Why?”
Man: “You could get door to door rides and others would not be inconvenienced.”
Access for disabled people is not an inconvenience.
Like we said at the beginning of the pandemic, disabled folks in your life are taking notes of your actions. It’s not us making an (other vs other) issue. It’s the fact we’re being excluded from society at risk of death.
For those “going back to normal” because your mental health needs it, remind yourself that immunocompromised, at risk, chronically Ill, and elderly individuals, have no end in sight to isolation. That affects the mental health of 12% of the population.
