Presenting today at #RMA22 on rural medical student advocacy with @all__that__jas and @GuyJeffery3 on behalf of @yourAMSA - and then later this afternoon I will be speaking individually in a soapbox titled “rural background students - the rural workforce solution?”

[AMSA Australia @yourAMSA]

Our President @jasminemdavis96 presented today
at #RMA22 on rural medical student advocacy with
@all__that__jas and @GuyJeffery3. She's also speaking
in a soapbox titled “rural background students - the rural workforce solution?” Outstanding work!

[AMSA Australia @yourAMSA]

General Practice is the backbone of Australia's health care system. We need to ensure that medical graduates are attracted to a career in general practice. @yourAMSA

[J @jasminemdavis96]

I had the privilege of asking @Mark_Butler_MP a question at @ama_media #AMANatCon and then chatting to @niltiac further about what needs to be done @yourAMSA https://t.co/7p1F2k52pX

[Henness Wong (he/him) @HennessWong]

The @yourAMSA President Address at #AMANatCon always a highlight. Very glad it was brought back into the agenda this year because @jasminemdavis96 had a powerful call for diversity and equity in medicine, from entry into training to ongoing support for all, quote below:

Birthing on Country for the best start in life: returning childbirth services to Yolŋu mothers, babies & communities in North East Arnhem … #openaccess … "For too long Yolŋu women & families have been excluded from maternity service design and delivery" https://t.co/QoCzsikVeh

[The Project @theprojecttv]

Dr Chris Moy, deputy head of @ama_vice, explains what needs to be done to save hospitals that are crumbling under the pressure of patient demand. #TheProjectTV

[J @jasminemdavis96]

Increasing #medicalstudent numbers will NOT solve #workforce issues. It is simplistic to suggest that this will help. It has been trialled and it has failed to provide the type of doctors we need in the location we need them. (A thread) @yourAMSA @ama_media

[AMSA Australia @yourAMSA]

Well said Chris Moy! As stated by our President Jasmine Davis, “It would be profoundly irresponsible for a Government to fund such a large number of new medical school places without adequate data, robust modelling, and consultation of stakeholders.”

[AMA Vice President @ama_vice]

Question for Universities: How is this any part of National Medical Workforce Plan & who & how are we going to train 1000 new graduates? Fantasy thinking to justify University self interest. Need to be part of the solution- not part of the problem. https://t.co/9GzSIYPyGI

[AMSA Australia @yourAMSA]

Recently, AMSA held a 'Global Health Forum', inspiring future medical students to think bigger. We had the great pleasure of @maxinewhittaker, Dr Kate Wylie from @DocsEnvAus and @ContehBiger come speak to us! #MedTwitter #globalhealth

We are really proud of our Vampire Cup Coordinator,
@Peumike_D
for his inspirational article on donating blood. A wonderful read encouraging all of us to roll up our sleeves!

[MJA @theMJA]

Bloody good way medical students are already saving lives … @Peumike_D from @yourAMSA writes #freeaccess … "You can start saving lives today, and we’ve got a bloody good way of doing it" … https://t.co/Vd165U6Q3C ... #medtwitter

At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them #AnzacDay2022 #LestWeForget
