@CamCoreopsis@foreverlonersto@Zhane_Star Also, no one mentioned staying silent. I just said that there’s no point fighting an uphill battle or getting into a big fight where nobody ends up being convinced. Is wasting that energy really the better alternative, if someone isn’t really saying anything that’s THAT deep?
@CamCoreopsis@foreverlonersto@Zhane_Star If someone were to say, “we need to line up every transgender person and shoot them in the head”, that might be a sign that I don’t want to be around them, lol. But in general, everyone has their prejudices and people they like or dislike. It’s human nature, like it or not
@CamCoreopsis@foreverlonersto@Zhane_Star What is the alternative exactly? You’re assuming that those are people who can easily have their minds changed. It’s a waste of energy and if they’re not causing you any kind of harm personally, then the most you can do is stay around them and wish them well.
@CamCoreopsis@foreverlonersto@Zhane_Star I don’t like it when people say things I find disgusting either. But it’s not a case where I can’t tolerate it or can’t handle being around them. I’m sorry if that’s the case for you and I try to do the best I can to change people’s minds, but you can’t control who I talk to
@CamCoreopsis@foreverlonersto@Zhane_Star If it’s someone you don’t know, I can understand not wanting to be friends with them based off that. I wouldn’t want to be friends with someone either if that was one of my first impressions of them. But someone you know, and that you know is good, but flawed like everyone else?
@CamCoreopsis@foreverlonersto@Zhane_Star That’s the thing though. You don’t have to agree with it. You can see other value in them as a person while still acknowledging that their opinion on that matter is immoral. I’m okay sitting next to you because I believe there’s more to you as a person, but I’ll never agree
@CamCoreopsis@foreverlonersto@Zhane_Star My parents are transphobic, slightly racist, homophobic. Do I agree with them? Definitely not. Is that a reason to cut them off? I don’t think so. Their beliefs don’t affect me personally to the point where I can’t stand being around them. Even if they did, I’d still love them
@CamCoreopsis@foreverlonersto@Zhane_Star You don’t have to like somebody, but that’s not a reason to not show them common courtesy or treat them how they might be treating you. The answer to hate is never more hate. You should wish people the best regardless of their beliefs, or whether you like them or not
@foreverlonersto@Zhane_Star You don’t have to be friends, but a lot of the time I see people using that as an excuse to put even more hate out into the world and using “he said so and so” to justify it. You don’t have to be around someone but it takes a big person to wish them the best. Not saying you don’t
@SkolLady@IcyXD_0FFICIAL@kaisa_player They’re stupid and made a mistake, like I’m sure you do every so often. Nobody is a perfect person. Is that a reason to not want to be friends with them?
